Re FLYBE Survey

Marco491,

I felt exactly the same, and also took the opportuntity to gripe about the loss of Bristol. I hate having to travel elsewhere for any flights let alone the destinations and times ex-served by BA Connect.

Flights times are all on Ryanairs website

Standard Noise 24th May 2007 10:33

Bit puzzled by Ballykelly International. Do they really think they can make a go of it? I mean I come from NI and even I don't see the attraction of Derry apart from being closer to the Giant's Causeway and the Bushmills Distillery than Aldergrove.
Ah well, never mind, I'm sure MO'L knows what he's up to.

a1234 24th May 2007 10:46

I think easy aren't going to be best pleased about this after all the time they've put into BRS. Especially with FR going up against them on Milan, and the Polish routes and places like Derry in NI.

Somethings gotta give because I don't think BRS is big enough for both of them!

nema/robin hood 24th May 2007 10:53

Standard Noise

Don't be at all puzzeled with the Derry route. When FR started Derry from up here at EMA, I too was a little perplexed! Looking at the latest CAA stats, the EMA to LDY route carried 6475 passengers in April. Not bad considering that FR have a load restriction at LDY due to the runway length.

WATABENCH 24th May 2007 11:05

I imagine the airport will have a clause with FR to say that they cant compete
on any direct EZY routes, other airports of similar size manage with both FR and EZY(EMA is the best example of this) and BRS will as well.
EZY(Milan malpensa) FR(Milan Bergamo) are not the same route, Porto sounds good, guna book me and the lady on that one for a nice weekend i reckon!! :}

honest man 24th May 2007 12:16

The PIK to Derry route has went from 5 a week to dailly

BRS_flyer 24th May 2007 12:45

Great News. :) Always a few suprises with FR routes choices but all destinations are very welcome, particually RIX, as that is BRS's first route to former Soviet block (I think).

I have no doubt that all of these routes will do well and will be particually interesting to see how the BGY route does against EZY MXP. Loads have been fairly low (40-80 on some days) on this route even now. Also a welcome return for BUD, which has been much missed since EZY pulled the route.

smellster 24th May 2007 13:09

Oh goody! A load of unpronouncable eastern european destinations, I guess you can never have enough plumbers and builders. :ugh: (Edited so as not to cause offence to people whose fathers didn't milk the economy 40 years ago:confused:)
Bergamo and Salzburg are useful for skiing, Riga and Porto are worth visiting once and........ that's about it.

Smellster

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but think your comment is a little below the belt. This is an airline forum and not one about bashing people taking our jobs!

my father was one of those 'milkers' who came over 40 years ago, from the former Yugoslavia and he has more than put back in to the economy that some of us english would ever put in.

Good for them if they want a decent job to support family back home!

Anyway back on topic....Nice to see some places different to be able to spend the weekend!

Rant over..!

WATABENCH 24th May 2007 14:02

Well looking at the new destinations none of them are covering lost BACON routes, so this holds out the hope of a full service carrier operating the lost german routes possibly LH/BMI??? and hopefully another full service operator competeing on the EDI/GLA routes, this would help claw back those lost business people i guess

2J&D 24th May 2007 14:18

I agree, plus the new routes are not really competing with EZY and so will give a nice mix of destinations....I personally do not think EZY will be too worried, as there is very little repeat routes..apart from Milan and even then we are looking at 2 different areas than Malpensa & Bergamo can cover. Being someone who works in the industry and not far from the airport, people are always looking for somewhere different for a weekend. VCE/BCN/PRG etc can only be done a few times before people become tired of the same place...

Only a little worried it is FR, flew them last week to DUB and there is certainly no hanging around! Bounced a few times down DUB runway on landing and taxied like we were in the F1!

Good to see something positive for the airport, just need someone with a M.E operation.....But we can all dream....:)

2J&D 24th May 2007 14:39

Smellster, thanks for the edit and no offense taken, just my own personal view point on comments that were made...Not so difficult to understand surely...

Anyway, back to what we are here to discuss...
