If BACF falls out of love with LCY, the airport has a problem as BACF has become very dominant there.

Other than Cityjet and Flybe, there are now only 9 other airlines serving 11 destinations from LCY. Cityjet is just a shade of its former glory and may well disappear from LCY completely sooner than later. And it remains to be seen if Flybe will stick it out this time at LCY.

BA seem to be using the aircraft better away from LCY, maybe it's a sign of things to come, it's an expensive airport!
Also during the week? Unitil now, they have simply made use of them over the weekend to work around the LCY curfew and get better utilization out of the fleet.

Angers is being cancelled as the ATC coverage at the airport has been withdrawn. BACF had planned the flights this summer.

Thanks, I forgot about that. Wonder why they don't give Tours or Poitiers a go then - I know that Ryanair serves both from STN, but BACF@LCY supposedly caters for a different type of traveller.

British Airways announces new Skiathos route from London City, two million seats for summer | Travel News

Strangely this doesn't mention dropping GVA

I think somebody was paying a large dose of 'marketing support fees' to encourage BACF to fly to Angers

pamann 8th Feb 2017 13:51

Maybe BACF are diversifying with STN/MAN so as not to have all their eggs in one basket. Could be a great bargaining tool on BA's part if LCY don't play nicely

SEN done well this morning (7 diverts) due to low cloud

Paris CDG
Paris ORY
Nantes
Madrid
Hamburg
Genf (becomes seasonal)
Alicante (not resumed)
Angers
...apparently we can add Bremen to that list - no flights available after Feb 25, 2017. Not sure if that means that Sun Air will return to HAM to replace BACF (BRA-MAN also to go).

BA LCY/JFK
May I ask for any information on the transit procedures for these flights through SNN; for the US pre-clearance formalities, do the pax disembark via a jetway or remote stand/bussing? Likewise, are the checked bags removed for Customs pre-clearance, or cleared on arrival JFK. Thanks for any info.

Passengers are disembarked via an Airbridge in Shannon, bags are not removed but a photo of your bag will be taken in LCY and you will asked to confirm that that is infact your bag while going through preclearance.

After clearing USPC, British Airways passengers will wait in a lounge like area beside the gate before baording is called.

Re BA LCY/JFK @ AerRyan: so the pax arrive at JFK as domestic pax, but their baggage will then be cleared at JFK through US Customs - are the bags regarded as arriving domestically as well?

When i did LCY-SNN-JFK we got off at SNN using an air bridge. Passengers with checked luggage were asked to wait in a lounge area and passengers with hand baggage only went through then we followed. You clear immigration and then they ask you if the picture of your bag is yours and then you go airside at SNN where there are toilets, a duty free shop and seats. We were then pretty much called for boarding right away.

Once at JFK, we just walked off the plane and out to baggage reclaim. No customs or immigration. Very easy.

Im sure if the Kuwait Airways flights use US pre clearance, or just a general secondary security search.

Thanks, BA318, your "live experience" comment gives me the best clue of how it is done at SNN. Thanks.

This appears to describe no customs check at all, which seems unlikely. Where do they pick up that you bought 20 bottles of liquor in the Shannon duty free, or in the aircraft ?

Kuwait is security screening only, not preclearance.

BA1 is currently the only commercially scheduled transit flight availing of preclearance.

Once you are through Pre-Clearance, you are technically in the US. It is considered a domestic arrival.

Sales on board are restricted for pre cleared flights, cigarettes and alcohol are just some duty free items which cannot be sold. Sales after you clear in SNN are restricted per passenger.

Something a loco's will have to balance between additional costs and loss of on board revenue before using such a facility.

Bags are removed, scanned and photographed and if required an officer can have you and the bag re-checked if necessary before re boarding.

Are you sure? My understanding was that the bags are scanned in LCY and are not removed at SNN unless required.
