Any mention or info on their possible routes?

Today I was contacted by Mr Ugo Michelassi who claims to be the executive director of Millennium Airlines.He asked me £10,000 to do a type rating course on the BA146 with BAE SYSTEMS in Woodford.. .Anybody received the same offer?

I was in Italy all last year and there was talk of Millennium from about summer onwards. They started off with Boeings of various types and now, having spoken to their Training Manager who is ex BAe Woodford, they appear to have two 146-300s which they are planning to launch soon. They are based in Firenze, and Michelassi is the man running the show in Italy, even though it has Irish backing. Some of the emails I have received from him have been a bit sharpish, and no they are certainly not spending any money before the launch if they can persuade crew to pay for themselves. They are real, and they do want to start, and Firenze is a beautiful city, but if you want to go down there you will have to pay for yourself. This is not a repeat of NJI and it's crazy pilot salaries. Working in Italy is not for the faint hearted, but if you value culture, la bella vita, climate etc over cash then give it a go. Of course, being pilots, cash will no doubt win....(only joking) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

they were getting RJs at one point after they abandoned the 73s. Guess the RJs were abandoned for the old workhorses. BAe were keen to send the RJs to Italy last year, don't know what happened. Training Manager though is definitely reliable and honest and if he says they are getting 146-300s then I believe him. And Florence is lovely so try again. With NJI we had about 5 false starts and then suddenly just started rolling so don't be put off by the delay. Or the Italian-English.

BAE SYSTEMS said they did not sign any contract with Millennium Airlines for any aircraft yet but this new Irish airline claims to be waiting for delivery of 2 BAe146-300 for april 2002.

I would be VERY careful of any Italian airline outfit wanting pilots to fork out money for type ratings. Experience has taught me that if the airline is serious they`ll pay for the training. Don`t forget that with every aircraft leased an airline gets at least 4 type rating free with every plane ordered...

Has anyone been offered a job with Millennium Airlines based in SNN??

Are they a real airline or just trying their luck??

not in SNN Judy....in FLR...

They were supposed to have started May/June iniatially in FLR. then a base in Shannon. However they do not yet have aircraft let alone AOC in place and it's not looking especialy good, too bad for those needing a job.

Judy - There is quite an extensive thread on the site re this lot, and the general opinion is not to touch them with a barge pole, as it appears to be a con.

Search the site and have a good read!! It's in the "Reporting Points" section.

They are real, they do exist.
But do agree Mr Abeaver, the longer it drags on (about 18 months now i think) the less I would be inclined to use your barge pole...

latest info is that 2 146-300 will start operating 08.06. ex FLR while 4 Avro RJ85 are being prepared to replace these 146 as well as commencing the all Avro fleet asap.

yep...the Avros will be in FLR soon....4 to start with, very latest built straight from Woodford.
