Weather I believe, falling cloud base

More cancellations today due to operational issues. Any ideas what these were?

I was in Guernsey Airport yesterday when one of the cancellation announcements went out. The reasons given being technical issues and no crew.

Visibility less than 50meters does tend to cause a cancellation or two! They can't see much.

That would explain it then - I didn't know vis was down to 50m - should have checked first

From what I could see, only the loan Dorny was running.

G-OMAF operated GR217, G-OAUR GR229 and G-LGIS GR287. Don't know about the rest of the flights.

Presumably G-COBO is u/s at Stansted tonight. The return to GCI was cancelled and G-LERE was switched from LGW GR608 (which was cancelled) to GR678 (Manchester) instead of COBO.

Surprise Surprise, the second new build 228 from RUAG has been delayed & is not now expected until Q2 2018 - I actually wonder if it will arrive at all?

Meanwhile G-OMAF appears to be flying to Germany. So with G-OAUR undergoing maintenance currently (?) and G-SAYE apparently long-term sick, the Dornier operation now falls into the lap of G-LGIS. Or will RUAG sending a replacement for G-OMAF?

G-OAUR back in service to Dinard, but still unsatisfactory situation.

This appears to be a manufacturer problem. I hope Aurigny have a big penalty clause in the contract, including supply of a replacement to cover for the delay

D-CAAL in operation today

There appears to be a Dornier on stand at GCI that isn't G-OAUR or G-LGIS (and I'm guessing not G-SAYE). If G-OMAF has returned to Germany, I wonder what this a/c is.

Oops - I think the answer is in the posting above.

It looks as if the arrival of D-CAAL has meant that G-OMAF has returned to Germany. Does this mean G-OMAF has finished with Aurigny?
Another point to ponder - if, as reported, D-CAAL has been provided with crew, Aurigny will have quite a few flight crew twiddling thumbs in the near future. They have been trained to fly one or another kind of Dornier (old or NG) but now will hardly be needed with D-CAAL covering some flights. Have they had short-term contracts and moved on? Or are they still employees but without flying duties??

Time for a bit of an audit on the airline me thinks...at some point the states will have to raise a hand and say "stop" lets look at this logically and see what the flying fairies is going here - a misfit bunch of types and crappy dispatch reliability that is in essence being supported by the local govt.

Aurigny is a good airline with a long heritage - and thats not a guarantee to success! but it sounds to me like people are trying to make their mark and failing miserably to understand the route cause of the problems or indeed the market they are meant to serve, along with failing to have sufficient knowledge of their routes / capacity / demand and operating costs versus demand and price point.

Who actually stuck their head above the parapet and said "yep i'll vote for us to buy some new Do228" that are effectively out of production a/c and uber expensive as they are the only a/c like a BN 2 mk3 that i can think of.... WTF!

You could of purchased two brand new EASA Let 410 NG i neither 15 or 19 seat config for the price of a single Do228 and had 100% better dispatch reliability, or two/three C208B EX Caravans.

Still odds are with all this moaning - it will, (we hope) in all reality be a small blip in the airline history and written about - but hopefully Aurigny will still be there when we all have grandkids.. Blue Skies!
