Not sure if this has been posted but Loganair are axing the seasonal Shetlands - Aberdeen - Faroe Islands route that was due to start in May.

Not sure they've bothered telling their customers yet though... I only found out through the grapevine and pushed them to refund me.

I'd have thought most folk would just look at fares via the website, and it's perhaps the case (given what Loganair do) that the compassionate fare system is of major importance in its home market, yet unappreciated outside of it. And they might just consider the Islander to be the flagship of the fleet - I'm sure I recall reading somewhere that the 50th anniversary of operating from Kirkwall occurs at about the same time as their franchise switchover....

New website reminds me that a handful of handy Logan / FlyBe connections are going to disappear from from 1 September. NWI-MAN-BHD springs to mind, which I've found quite handy in the past.

That's all well and good, but I'd imagine a significant proportion of the ABZ-FAE punters aren't from Shetland, myself included.

For a route that's due to start in just over a month or so, to not have contacted anyone a week after the news was released/leaked to the press is a poor show imo. They were still flogging tickets for it at the time of my refund.

Loganair are going to be using an ATR42 on the DND-STN flights from April 9 through to May 16. Does anyone know where this aircraft is being leased from ?

They are hoping that a codeshare will be agreed, however I don't think you'll see the same fares... hopefully they will work together as it's beneficial to both airlines.

I noticed the posties aircraft is painted up in the new Loganair colours now, and the 340 we were on from BEB on Monday was now white - with a few bits of Flybe colours that they seemed to have missed ;)

So I have a question after a discussion I had recently - I am sure someone here will be able to answer! When new logos and colour schemes are put on aircraft, are they actually physically painted? Or are they some kind of giant sticker? I had always thought they were really painted.

I did try to google it, honest! But it seems the answer may be so obvious that it is not necessary for anyone to write it down - at least, where I can find it...

Some large base colours are painted- but quite a bit of the specifics are usually decals or something similar.

So we are three and half months to Loganair and Flybe parting company.
And still Loganair have not announced codeshares with Flybe, British Airways or Aer Lingus.

I really hope they sort something out - I have several flights to/from Wick that I need to book and am loathe to risk seperate reservations.

From a purely self interested perspective, in NWI we're about to lose the handy NWI-MAN-BHD connection (and presumably a couple of others).

It seems Loganair aren't wasting any time and are fighting back with a BMI and BA codeshare which will hopefully come into effect soon. Would it make sense for Loganair to expand their route structure to attempt to compete with BEE on some of their routes from ABZ, EDI and GLA? BHX/MAN/BHD/LCY perhaps?

Flybe response seems to the franchise agreement breakup seems excessive, and totally unexpected based on Loganair's MD's response, which is unprofessional but that is the nature of the industry I suppose. Flybe's and Eastern's reputations aren't great and it will be fascinating to see how things pan out over the next year. I can't quite see T3 JS41's, and their recent performance/operating style fitting into the BEE corporate image somehow.

Also; competition on a lot of these thin routes will be difficult and I suspect although in the short term there may be a benefit for PAX with the competition, it may backfire in the long term.

Don't forget Loganair have already scrapped CC fees and will keep the first bag free. Flybe/Eastern aren't doing that...

Looks like Loganair are acquiring an EMB145 - Routes Online report that they plan to use one from Inverness from September for 3x daily to MAN and daily to Dublin.

The EMB145 is a BMI Regional aircraft, this is now showing on Loganair's booking journey as Loganair operated by BMI Regional. Looks to fairly long term as flights are showing this until end of March.

Starts on Monday 3rd July will position in from ABZ on sunday

Anyone know when the Do.328s are to be phased out. Jethros indicates all three are up for sale. G-BYHG hasn't been seen for a long while. Extended maintenance at BOH?
