Re Thomsonfly Summer 06

People may well see a dramatic change in timings for TOM next summer, as as it stands at the moment the timings do not make any sense and certainly do not make a fleet of 3 based aircraft. Also some of the loco flights are being operated by the charter 757 aircraft and some pax on package tours will find themselves flying on the loco 737. All very confusing so pax beware if you are booking flights as the timings are more than likely to change.

Much the same can be said for the XLA base next summer. It seems atleast 3 aircraft will permanently be based, with a 4th popping in and out. Rumours are that it will be 2 737-800 and 1 757 (pos to operate SSH flights), along with a subbed aircraft, which in previous years have included Hola and Scandic.

NCL - JFK is now available to book on www.americanairlines.co.uk

NCL-JFK

The seat map on the booking system shows a 757 with economy and first/business class seats, but only the economy ones can be booked. The others are shown with a cross through them and are labeled not available?? Anyone know why?.
I realise its supposedly an all economy flight but why show first class seats on the map.

pieboyjr 26th Sep 2005 16:04

If there are 188 seats, 6 across, they only need 31 rows, and because it is all economy only around 31 rows will be needed. I'm still puzzled though!

BahrainLad 26th Sep 2005 16:09

The domestic F cabin on this route is not available for pre-allocation unless you are a top-tier elite in the AA FFP.

GrahamK 26th Sep 2005 16:24

If I remember correctly, those domestic F class seats are only available if you are paying full fare or are part of the AA FF program or something?

DC10FAN 26th Sep 2005 16:45

I've flown on American's B757s and can confirm that 188 seats are made up of 22 First class( 5 rows of 2-2 and a single pair) and 166 Economy(1 row of 2-2 and 27 rows of 3-3 seating). I believe that F seats are only being offered to full fare economy tickets.(Not sure about FFP)

The First class seats are not available to book even if paying full fare. Also some rows of economy seats are unavailable to book at any fare, there seems to be about 120 seats available to book on each flight.
It is possible that the seat map shown is not the final version and it has been used as a tempoary measure until the correct one is ready.
Have heard rumors that some AA aircraft will be configured in 188 seat all economy versions by next year (seat pitch 34 inches) This could be the answer?.

Those worried about whether or not HLX will continue next year just need to consider 2 words - World Cup. Assuming Sven's Charvas can stay out of jail until qualifying, it's as much a certainty HLX will still be around as it is that England come home empty handed, 'robbed' by another poor decision. :D

I see London City is on the departures board again

VG491 07:10 LONDON CITY

pieboyjr 26th Sep 2005 20:16

Is that VLM? I'm pretty sure they've appeared on the departures board before?!

Maybe we will see some new routes when 3rd edition come on sale. mind still got at least another 2/3 months for that.

Jamesair 28th Sep 2005 22:23

Summer 06 timetable is out for HLX giving NCL 3 x wkly to Hanover and NO flights to either Munich or Cologne.

Hope some other operator picks up these two destinations...traffic has been growing monthly. (no idea about the yield though)

Britannia operating a cruise charter to Barbados on the 19th January using a 767-200

It was meant to be a 747.

Has anyone heard anymore about the LCY route starting up?

fl dutchman 2nd Oct 2005 21:12

NCL- SFB Summer 2006

Recently returned from Florida, flew with FCA 006/007 in premium seats. Very good experience in terms of comfort service etc.
Trying to re book for next year has unearthed the following - No FCA flights 2006, Thomas Cook and Thomson still taking bookings for EXCEL on Thurs 2006, however one travel agent thought these flights would not operate due to problems this year.Travel City Direct are advertising a flight from NCL to SFB on a Fri with EXCEL but you cannot book seats on it,Travel City say it will be operated by an Airbus!
The only other flight is a Monarch on SAT with very high fares at the moment I understand this is due to a shortage of bookable seats on this route for 2006.
Can anyone clarify the situation?.

Incidentally we flew back in just 7hrs 40 mins seems very quick!.

nclairportfan 2nd Oct 2005 22:27

LCY

I see it is on the departure board again for 07.10 tomorrow morning. This seems to have been going on a while now but yet no announcement as yet! Seems a little strange!

CentreFix25 3rd Oct 2005 07:37

I don't think Excel are doing any long haul flying from NCL next year. The Thursday SFB and Friday POP will still operate, but with who?

Jamesair 3rd Oct 2005 16:44

Latest information I have is that these flights will be operated by Monarch
