Captainben

Did the Ryanair advert say it would fly from Newcastle? Nothing on their website or booking system.

Britannia 16th Apr 2005 08:32

Looks like an XLA might be doing a football flight as one came in last night from Brussels, probably TF-ELJ again.

10 DME ARC 16th Apr 2005 13:48

Ref Shannon

Yes I have just seen the advert as well pg7 of Fridays Chronicle, quarter page advert Shannon from £12.99!

Ryanair advert but with Ireland tourism logo as well. Book by 21/04 travel 05/05 to 07/07. Flights direct from Newcastle Airport!

Interesting.....................
:)

nclairportfan 16th Apr 2005 14:02

Very odd as their booking system doesn't show it currently. Could be a hint of a new route or just a mistake!

Britannia 16th Apr 2005 14:32

Might be via Dublin.

HH6702 16th Apr 2005 14:36

Wait for monday.

Ryanair will annouce new routes SNN and maybe hamburg?

Ryanair said it would expand.

nclairportfan 16th Apr 2005 15:50

Ryanair don't fly from Dublin to Shannon though and don't offer a connecting flight service. It should be a route from NCL though as I think it would be popular.

Lets wait for Monday!

10 DME ARC 16th Apr 2005 16:21

Hopefully not just all an expensive mistake which should read Dublin?
Start a new route within three weeks???

How much does a quarter page advert cost in the chronicle????
:)

johnwalton 16th Apr 2005 17:50

How much does a quarter page advert cost in the chronicle????
I know a quarter page advert in the job section on a Thursday is from £800. Depends what day/placement/page number etc, but you'd be talking in the region £1000-5000, maybe more seen as it was Fridays paper.

GrahamK 17th Apr 2005 01:18

Is there a reason for the NCL website not showing any flights to Cardiff tomorrow?

NCLRULES 17th Apr 2005 07:53

Probably because there just special flights. Only operational today.

GrahamK 17th Apr 2005 10:16

Nah, they would show them surely, especially as the CWL website is showing them

NCLRULES 17th Apr 2005 12:15

I thought they would aswell, but they didn't. Just the usual 6G flight was on the departures board for Cardiff.

Jamesair 17th Apr 2005 16:34

The arrivals back from Cardiff are all showing (or up to the cut off time point) on the arrivals/departures section of the airport website.

Jamesair 18th Apr 2005 15:34

SHANNON

No announcement about Shannon today from either the airport or Ryanair.

Anybody heard anything else on this mystery?

NCLRULES 18th Apr 2005 18:40

Seems to of gone all quite.....

10 DME ARC 18th Apr 2005 19:17

Like I said before seems like an expensive mistake!

:)

captainben 18th Apr 2005 19:33

Must be a canny pricey mistake then, especially if it was in tonight's Chronicle too.

NCLRULES 20th Apr 2005 16:06

E mail from Newcastle Airport:

Hi Chris

Thank you for your enquiry, I’m afraid it was a mistake we will not be operating to Shannon.

Regards

Customer services
How could FR make a mistake like that!?

10 DME ARC 20th Apr 2005 18:15

Ryanair must have more money than sense!
:)

On a different subject, have just seen the article in Airliner World on NCL. Seemed very good until the quote "four charter aircraft are based at the airport this summer" !!
I had always rated AW ah never mind, should have read "eight charter aircraft based this summer, BAL 2 x B752, TCX 2 x B752, MYT 1 x A320, XLA 3 a/c (2 x B734 & a SCY B752)"
Only 50% out!!
:O

Jamesair 20th Apr 2005 23:20

10 DME ARC

I noticed that error in Airliner World.....not very good

On a different subject, pax traffic on the HLX Hanover route is 67% inbound to NCL which is really great for the city.

GrahamK 21st Apr 2005 08:18

How are the other HLX flights doing?

Jamesair 21st Apr 2005 15:52

The March figures on Cologne and Munich should be on the CAA provisional stats next week

NCLRULES 22nd Apr 2005 17:19

Hopefully they're good and HLX may consider adding Stuttgart, which has been rumoured .(And been on the arrivals/ departures board!):p

coasting 22nd Apr 2005 19:32

HLX Figures for March

Provisional March figures for Munich were 503, while Cologne attracted 1453. Does'nt appear to be very good, unless they only operated for latter part of month. By comparison Hanover carried 3023 total.

GrahamK 22nd Apr 2005 22:17

Munich only opertsed for 3 0or 4 flightd through March so not to bad

PapaRomeo 22nd Apr 2005 23:01

You been drinking by any chance???? :E

GrahamK 23rd Apr 2005 08:50

Me? Drinking? Never :ouch:

Jamesair 23rd Apr 2005 17:07

I see the SAS Copenhagen pax figures are creeping up towards the levels needed for twice daily rotations, 1,457 in March. I understand that a constant 1,700 per month is the level required.

NCLRULES 23rd Apr 2005 18:39

Looking good. The pax numbers will continue to grow during the summer season I bet.

HH6702 23rd Apr 2005 19:20

New Route Summer 2006

Hi

New route to Djerba in Tunisia for summer 2006.

Source Airtours 2006

Saturday flight leaves 17:25 arrives sunday 01:40 airline code BJ

With based times there is maybe BY instead??

nclairportfan 24th Apr 2005 16:06

Just got back from Cologne with HLX. Outbound and return flights were both around 75% full so quite good.

GrahamK 25th Apr 2005 12:26

Newcastle the fastest growing UK airport last year
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4480983.stm

skyman771 26th Apr 2005 16:49

Fastest growing airport & this is without any further pier development or Air Bridges...... Perhaps someone has decided to invest in more buses for ground transportation instead !

nclairportfan 26th Apr 2005 17:17

There are strong indications on another website that one of the new EZY routes from NCL will be in direct competition with a major UK Airline at NCL.

captainben 26th Apr 2005 17:43

The only thing that springs to mind is BA on the Gatwick?

nclairportfan 26th Apr 2005 17:54

I think EZY on LGW makes sense as it opens up another domestic route for them and links two bases that they have. However, it could just be speculation.

CentreFix25 26th Apr 2005 18:29

What about Amsterdam, KLM reducing their frequency. I think NIA have a good thing going with BA at the minute, and I don't think they would want to upset them.

Jamesair 27th Apr 2005 16:17

I agree with CentreFix. Would NIA want to upset BA.?....unless they have intimated that they might want to pull off Gatwick at some stage. The pax figures seem healthy though making that look unlikely.

AMS....if KLM are planning to reduce frequency I could see this as a possibility although didn't Easyjet complain about charges at Schipol causing them to reduce operations there?

It was once rumoured that Easy might go head-to-head with Rynair on the Stansted run, maybe this could be the answer.

10 DME ARC 27th Apr 2005 17:13

James
Don't you mean Ryanair go head to head with Easy? as Easy do STN four times a day!
:)
