It seems dangerous to intrude, but I guess the flooding was outside the City, which is legally, by royal charter, Londonderry. It is more likely, from the pictures, to have taken place within the local government district, which is Derry and Strabane.

🖒🖒thank you, and indeed royal is the term to mean that it was given by United kingdom royal household namely king james the first, fact

You are being rude. It is up to each individual in terms of what they call our second city.

How dare you come in an correct people saying "Derry", don't be rude. Bigot.

No, im trying to tell you that its correct name is londonderry, how is that bigoted, how do you say dublin, lin or dub? U are the bigot

inOban 24th Aug 2017 20:46

I said that legally it's Londonderry. That doesn't mean we always have to use the full name. Lots of people and places with long names get them shortened, and that's OK so long as it doesn't cause confusion. And it doesn't in this case.

We used to call it Baile Átha Cliath ;)

AerRyan 24th Aug 2017 23:36

This genuinely wouldn't happen on any other forum.

Flags and names are prime issues, whereas the rest of the world are more concerned about real issues ;)

owenc 25th Aug 2017 00:12

Exactly. Not sure why he Refullerman concerned anyway, since he lives in Belfast.

The irony of this statement....

In other news......

https://www.derrynow.com/news/football-fans-left-behind-ryanair-axe-weekend-flight-liverpool/180892

An increase of the Liverpool flights from 2 per week to 4.

A few complaints from Liverpool football fans that the Saturday flight has been moved to another day but the reinstatement of the Friday flight will be welcomed by anyone wanting a weekend in Liverpool (or Derry for that matter). Besides the return flight for the football fans was on Tuesday so presumably they were travelling back via Belfast anyway but with a new flight on Sunday they can now travel back to LDY if they want so it is really no difference.

The changes come in at the start of November and the new flights are Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

AerRyan 25th Aug 2017 14:31

Ryanairs tantrum cuts usually never last long, good news.

01475 25th Aug 2017 16:50

I wonder when they'll start London again...

AerRyan 25th Aug 2017 16:53

Wouldn't put it past them but it's unlikely with BMI there.

scodaman 25th Aug 2017 21:43

Does anyone know if the terms of the PSO with BMI state that they can be the only STN operator for the duration of the contract?

TartinTon 26th Aug 2017 11:09

It's open skies. Any European carrier can fly to any point in Europe if they can get the slots. The reason it's a PSO is that no-one else wants to fly it without a handout.

speedbirdATC 6th Sep 2017 09:20

FR summer 18 schedule is now loaded. GLA remains at 5 x weekly, whilst LPL drops back to 2 x weekly again. Such a shame as there is definitely the demand there for a daily rotation on each of these routes.

conorc123 7th Sep 2017 08:34

Very disappointing, as you say very popular routes. Really need flybe or Stobart in to fill the gaps (possibly MAN & EDI), eventually pushing FR out and then run a comprehensive schedule twice daily to each airport with their smaller planes
