New airline in Scotland?

This story appeared in The Herald this morning. Given the current activities of one of the brothers, I don't think it would be unreasonable to guess that this new venture might involve a new airline in Scotland, the article certainly hints at it. Has anybody heard anything?

It is very likely to be the one which is linking in to Globespan when they move from PIK to GLA.

The trend nowadays seems to be airlines moving out of GLA not in...

Had to laugh at Michael O'Leary the other day wanting to get Glasgow International to change it's name. He claimed that GLA was not an International airport, but a domestic airport. He also claimed that PIK was the true International airport for Glasgow!! Much as I love PIK...

Eff Oh,

I agree he's a bit of a f@*kwit, but he's an absolute genius when it comes to getting free publicity!

I kind of answered my own question whe I read the Scotsman later this morning, which suggested that the company will be a package company specialising in trips to the Carribean - we shall see in due course I suppose.

Findo,

Surely globespan's TX partner will be air transat? (to Canada at least) - they've been tied up with them for years, so presumably they'll just upgrade that arrangement

He launches a new route from PIK. The last 2 routes either didn't get mentioned in the press or had minimal coverage and certainly not on TV.

He says something about the airport names and features on every television news broadcast, radio station, web page and newspaper for 24 hours. When interviewed he says time and again Ryanair are offering 10 destinations out of Prestwick .. we are starting a new route to Gothenburg in October.. Glasgow are xxx .. we have 10 routes out of Prestwick .. Scandinavia, Germany France .. BAA and BA rip people off .. we have 10 destinations out of Prestwick and for £9.99 you can fly to .....BAA are nasty .. we are starting a new service to Gothenburgh ...

I mean why didn't he just pay several £m for the TV and radio to take his message in their spare time instead of broadcasting to the whole of Scotland and around the world at prime time .... and paying nothing ?

Keep the argument on a mature level..focusing on personalities just detracts from the issue and adds nothing to the case. Problem not the person. Thank you

Would that be Germanwings? Oops, silly old me, they're moving out of EDI.

LOL

I agree, did you hear that BAA are trying to get Germania to move into either EDI or GLA,I heard they are in big talks to try get them to go,but personally,I dont see it happening as I see a Munich,Stuttgart service being started into PIK in the near future.

The new owner of Deutsche BA recenty said in an interview that his airline was interested in serving EDI from DUS twice daily but failed to secure the necessary slots at DUS (they also wanted slots for an ORY service).

How is the new TXL-PIK service doing ? Many of the new routes Gexx has announced have not taken off. After weeks of cancellations, quite a few were quietly dropped from the schedules (such as MUC-ZRH).

The Germania Express PIK-TXL service has not started yet,but is likely to keep going because they are considering upgrading to a B737-300 from a F-100 because of high demand.

Air Scotland on the other hand looks to be doing well at the moment because they have had a Leased Air Holland 767-??? to the fleet as well as the 2 757`s,PH-AHE/AHS.
My friend recently travelled Glasgow-Tenerife with Air Scotland and said the flight was good.

I wouldnt thinkso,Air Scotland have already had one set of 757`s that they had time to work on,with the Air Holland 757 aircraft, they didnt get that much time to work out on them apart form when PH-AHE got replainted in full Air-Scotland Livery at Amsterdam.
