BA Venice reductions

Have seen that BA are reducing their LGW-VCE services from 1 Sep and will no longer have an aircraft based overnight in Venice. Does anyone know if they are using this slot for something else, or are they just suffereing on ther route since they, easyJet and Ryanair all increased frequency this year, Volare became a low-cost carrier (although they appear to be doing cr@p) and bmi started their new services from LHR (I'm surprised they only do one daily though).

Or is it just a case that Venice isn't as popular as it used to be??
