Alitalia seeking alliance with Meridiana
Hi,
Alitalia is still seeking to forge an alliance with small carrier Meridiana, even though exclusive talks ended in April. Alitalia's CEO Mengozzi told shareholders last month that loss-making Alitalia must merge with other airlines and slash costs in order to survive the airline industry's slump.

As far as I know talks between Meridiana and Alitalia already ended.
Meridiana is not really what I would call a "small carrier" (21 aircrafts). Since last february Meridiana ( www.meridiana.it ) is codesharing with Alpi Eagles ( www.alpieagles.com ) which is a small carrier (8 aircrafts) ... but apparently that will be over soon as well!
