I believe that Azzurra is an Italian airline with Air Malta owning a major share of the company.
But why do the aircraft mentioned in this thread have Irish registrations?

EI-DBD 'Paris' was based at Manchester, but is now based at Bristol, to replace EI-DBC 'Manchester' that was our based unit, but has gone on lease to Excel Airways until October 31st and is i believe now based in Manchester. The aircraft were leased by Air Malta who has in turn sub-leased them out to Azzurra.

I flew aboard EL-DBD on July 15 (routing BRS-JTR) and July 22 (routing JTR-BRS).
On both occasions, the aircraft was operated by pilots from either Australia or New Zealand and cabin crew from Italy. On the return sector, the latter was joined by a British flight attendant. What is the most likely reason for this diverse mixture?

The service aboard ZS was both professional and friendly, although there was no IFE and not as much leg room as I'd have liked (no charter does).
Although there was a free meal, you had to pay for any drink you required besides tea or coffee after your meal.
I was extremely pleased with its punctuality. On the outbound sector, it pushed back from its stand at BRS 10 minutes early and arrived into JTR 15 minutes early. On the inbound leg, it left JTR 5 minutes early and arrived into BRS early.

Plane Happy: Italian cabin crews because the airline's Italian.....??.....and the Auzzie pilots are employed on a summer seasonal contract - they're ex. Ansett pilots who moved on when Ansett went under.

I obviously realised the Italian crew because it is an Italian airline connection. I just thought it was a little odd to have Australian pilots, Italian cabin crew and one British flight attendant.

My apologies EI-DBD is named paris and is based in brs
air malta own 49% of azzurra, a320's x 2 are in the uk offically until 31oct03, flight and cabin crew employed by airmalta well most of the flt crew anyway.
italian, spanish and english make up the complement for uk crew, majority italian in brs majority british in man
