Airlink for north Wales

With the recent opening of flights between Swansea and London, by AirWales, I would like to point out that a lot of us would like to see flights from Caernarfon Airport to; Ringway, London, Cardiff, Dublin etc, etc,

The reason buisness dosen't invest in north Wales, is because it dosent have a reigional air link.

I for one, and quite a few others would be verry happy to fly for such small airlines as Air Wales, especially in north Wales.

From a market based perspective you could argue that if there is sufficient demand then an airline will come along. However, as that hasn't happened yet you might like to consider the concept of a virtual airline developed by businesses, backed by the local authority on the island of Gotland off the coast of Sweden. A service was operated by Skyways, but the fares were felt too high for the islanders, so a few businesses got together and set up a virtual airline - Gotlandsflyg - and flights are flown by a Golden Air 340 - at lower fares than Skyways and its working!!

Sorry it's in Swedish, but you may find other articles in the Airline press.

The previous owner, (Who shall remain nameless!) was planning to set up such an operation, but instead of a franchise with an airline, for example, AirWales, this man was greedy and purchased two aircraft.

With the intent of starting his own airline, this man managed too put the airport into liquidation. It has only just been bought by someone else a few months ago, comeing out of liquidation.

Appart from the flying school there, and one of two pleasure flights 'round the local mountains, there has been no comercial acctivity.

Even the maintainance company there has ceased to opperate.
