Question Flyglobespan.com

Has anyone heard how the launch of Flyglobespan went this week. Services were to be launched yesterday from PIK but there is nothing about it on their website or PIK's website and haven't seen any press coverage at all?

Any idea how popular these flights are given the competition from Air Scotland and what will happen come the winter, will their be no flights?

Unhappy Flyglobespan in flights cutbacks

EDINBURGH low-cost airline Flyglobespan.com, which launched two weeks ago, has cut flights following slow bookings.

Flyglobespan.com planned to start flying in April, but brought its launch date forward to March 8 after passenger demand saw the firm sell 35,000 seats in its first three months. However, managing director Tom Dalrymple pushed the launch back to March 22 because of uncertainty over the timing of the conflict in Iraq.

The airline has now cancelled one of three weekly flights from Prestwick to both Nice and Rome, and combined one Prestwick to Nice flight with its daily Palma service. One of two weekly flights from Prestwick to Malaga has combined with the Palma route.

Mr Dalrymple said he hoped normal service would resume next month, as flights for this month were already 80 per cent full.

Good to see the EDI programme is holding-up. Perhaps
Rome should have been allocated to EDI in the first place.?

There is a thread in the Reporting Points forum stating that Flyglobespan have cut some of their flights and amalgamated others out of PIK for the month of April due to low demand. They hope to resume a full service in May.

For full details of flights affected look in the above thread.

Does Flyglobespan have its own a/c or does it use somebody else's aeroplanes? I can't find any details.

Flyglobespan's inaugural flight was actually from EDI 2 weeks ago. The flight also double-dropped at GLA and it carried 142 pax.

I was chatting to Globespan's staff at the launch and they
seemed delighted with EDI bookings in particular.

Most early season flights will double drop but will be exclusive as the season progresses.

They were tight-lipped about a possible budget TX service from
EDI but with 80% plus loads so far, one can imagine why Globespan are holding the cards close to their chest.
