My Travel A330 Crunch

Seen at FLS Manchester the other week........One of My Travel's A330's having a big repair to the forward cargo door.

Apparently a gound accident occured with either a baggage truck or a caterer which resulted in the door being pushed just under the hinge causing the cabin floor to be moved upwards and floor beams to be crunched.

The A team from Airbus were involved with the repair which has rumoured to cost My Travel 10 million in total cost which included lease, downtime and the repair itself. A new door was fitted along with extensive work to the hinge and grafts of the floor beams.

When the accident happened, passengers were on board and the baggage had to be removed in the hangar as the door was jammed shut.

Just what they needed after the recent accountancy blunder!

Coop.

Can't the airline make an insurance claim, or better still claim off the owners of the vehicle that caused the damage?

I think that it’s the caterers’ insurance that will have to pay for the damage.

However, to what extent it’s possible to make sure that all of the consequential costs are also covered without MyTravel being out of pocket I’m not sure.

One for the lawyers?
