Astraeus Expansion in Manchester

Figure this is the place to get this rumour nailed.

Hot word around Crew Room is that Astraeus are looking to expand in Manchester with two A320's! I've seen their 737-300 all year, occasionally see one of the -700's . But word from "above" is that they have a couple of A320's earmarked for Manchester, with the 737-300 going to Iceland.

Hopefully one of the various Astraeus bods who live here can confirm or deny.

Our fleet plans for the Summer are not finalised yet, but the A320 is under consideration, primarily because of the very competitive lease rates available at the moment.

Nothing signed, nothing definite. So this will have to remain in the "rumour" department for a few more weeks.

Obviously we need to determine the availability of A320 rated pilots as part of the evaluation of introducing the aircraft.

Fleet decision will be made before the end of January.

Question

Have there been any visits of Astraeus aircraft yet to Ireland? A detail to Cork would be very nice for something like a Munster rugby charter!!

Tom,

I've operated a Munster Rugby charter from Dublin to Cardiff last year with the 737-300.

Indeed tin tin, and it appears that there are opportunities coming along worth considering.

I suppose the decision might come down to balancing the High Risk/High Reward strategy of Astraeus (New company, opportunity, promotion etc) against the "security" (??) of a more stablished carrier and backer 9Thomas Cook).

I suppose a lot depends on what happens in Iraq.

Anyone dare to venture into how pay, and terms and conditions are with Astreaus?

Is it a good company to work for?

Aaaah yes, the Dublin - Cardiff flight, my first line sector with the company, great stuff!!

As for terms and conditions, well I can't compare it to other airlines, this is my first jet job but suffice to say we are a happy bunch.

Off topic but what the hey - I did a Munster Rugby trip last year, Kerry - Cardiff in the Minibus - marvellous time, great people, shame they lost, i was listening to the match on the way back home.

Hamrah, after you heady days with IEA, I still haven't found a simpler load/trim method than yours, greatly missed !!

No new bases planned , I'm afraid Graham.

Javelin, you seem to have survived the Belfast Crew Parties all the same.

I understand that the A320's are to be brought in, as Astraeus cannot source more 737-700's.

Also, Hamrah is it true that the conifg is expected to be 168? Not bad seat pitch compared to most charter A320's.

Any news regarding the Blue Fox operation?
