One of the leases is for 5 months, one is for 1 year.

BD tells me the aircraft on the 5 month lease comes complete with flight crew and cabin crew. Not sure how that works in practice; I hope the staff are being looked after given all the hard work they've put into the transatlantics.

the iad route has been suspended for 5 months over the winter season as saa required an extra aircraft to operate mxp to jnb but also cdg to jnb also,1 aircraft to be least for 1 year and 1 aircraft for 5 months this will bring very needed revenue to bmi while continuing to offer a transatlantic service that no other airline can match and we look forward to our iad sevices recommencing on june 1st we are already taking bookings

A shame that the cabin Crew will not be going with one of the aircraft, and they are being offered 50/50 long and short, transfer to another base (eg Lhr)or to work for BMI baby in EMA or CWL. So not such a good deal for them!! I know that most of the crew are feeling very let down by the company after all the hard work they have put into making the longhaul a great success. Most of the crew now looking for other work as they feel very insecure. On a safety point though, S.A.A. should have at least one SCA on the flight with the flight crew.
