New BA TV advert - About time!!!

Just seen new BA TV advert that takes a swipe at low cost airlines.

All I can say is - IT'S ABOUT BLOODLY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Low costs have been slating us openly for years and we have sat back and kept quiet and done nothing while us the staff have cried out and put in countless suggestions in that we fight back and play them at their own game. Well now it's happened, and I gotta say the results are great!! Very funny, subtle, and tounge in cheek.

The Yank in it - P.J. O'Rourke if I'm not wrong - is good as well!!

Keep it up BA!!! It's about time we stood our ground and advertised our assets and benefits.

Why use an American to advertise a (Great?) BRITISH Airline.

Are english actors too expensive nowadays?

I'd just like to add my support to BA for a great ad.

Using an American actor I think trys to demonstrate that even American's like BA even when they have plenty of US carriers to choose from.

Keep up the good work.

I wouldn't buy anything Billy Connolly is selling, since he started trying to get suckers to part with pounds for lottery tickets.

"Don't live a little, live a lotto." Oh, please!

Question That Yank

Pardon my lack of memory.

Is he the chap, who BA used some time ago, when the ad angle was along the lines of, why so many Americans fly BA. Just curious.

Bored.

PS. 'Bout time the BA gloves came off, in a legit way, my job depends on it! GREAT ad.

Yes, Boredcounter,

That Yank definitely looks like a quick lift from the earlier BA ad on 'Americans flying British' - saying the same phrase! Good!

Full marks to BA for a brilliant ad.

The people running out to the aircraft with "free seating" make me laugh hysterically every time I see the ad!

I know the ad you mean now. First 6 times I saw it I assumed it was an American Airlines ad!

Saw the ad for the first time last night - thought it was very clever, however the bit with the guy standing alone at the check-in desk was a bit OTT - Remember BA is the company that cut back on check-in staff so much at LGW that punters were queing outside the terminal in the rain!

More advertising lies?

The chap in the advert is P.J. O'Rourke, a humourist and writer. He wrote 'CEO of the Sofa', 'Eat the Rich', 'Give War a Chance', 'Holidays from Hell' and 'Parliament of Whores', in which he quotes "Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys". He has a most definite dislike of any governmental figure in the US.

He reguarly writes for a number of magazines, including Playboy, which of course someone told me.

An interesting individual to front your airline.

O'Rouke is actually an arch-Republican, it's the Democrats he despises.

Great ad, very well done and something the full service carriers should be doing more of.
