Air Scandic is still there ,it's the A300 thats leaving the B757 is staying.
The A300 has to leave due to training problems(loss of simulator).
I hope for the people involved that something els will come up.

But Air Atlanta has just signed up for two ex-Air 2000 757s which will be based at MAN next year - apparently taking over a lot of the work which Air Scandic did for the brokering bit of Excel.

Exclamation Scandic

Yes the Sim issue was the biggie. Last I heard CAA had revoked certification of the only sim in the world for this particular type. A300 B4 FFCC (Forward Facing Crew Cockpit) has the overhed panel and advanced features of the A300-600 and A310 but analouge flight instruments ie no EFIS. Air Scandic was working on this certification issue, but apparently nothing came out of it.

Captains where mostly retired Finnair. Both aircraft are owned and maintained by Finnair. I understand that a fleet change is under works and Air Scandic will be operating again next summer.

I surely hope that this does not mean more pilots on the street, there are too many there working in Mickey Dees as it is.

I have heard rumours that the A300's are, or soon will be back in service with Air Scandic.

Anyone know anymore?

Thumbs up Scandic

They will be flying again this coming summer and even hired some more people.

Sim issue has been cleared for the time being with a " Temporary arrangement".

Additionally some AY B752´s will be flying for them as well on wetlease basis.

Cheers

JJ

G-TTMC has been in MAN for a while now operating a small winter programme plus ad-hoc, mainly football flights. G-SWJW arrived back in MAN last week...

I heard the A/C will be flying until the end of the summer only. Probably the impending D check will make them unviable. I would think any name change could possibly have something to do with reducing certain peoples tax liability, but its only a guess.

This is one of the "I heard it through the grapevine ..." things, but, I had heard that the airline was far from closing down but being expanded.

I'm sure it was Air Scandic though it may've been another ad-hoc airline, maybe Electra, but were planning on sub-leasing 5 Boeing 757-200s that United Airlines are parking up in the desert?

Can anyone back me up here?

Arrow Horses mouth says

That Air Lapland name has been buried for the time being... You are very right about the expansion. UAL aircraft have been mentioned as well as other sources. A possibel fleet change has been in the works since problems with the Jakarta Simulator started. Mind you these are not your typicsl "A300 Classics" and are operated with 2 crew. I think the type is called:
A300B4-200 FFCC

Cheers

Air Scandic is still very much in business: a hefty summer program is been planned from MAN for the two A300 FFCC's and in addition 3 Finnair 757's are leased over the summer (cockpit crew from Finnair).
