Volcano overflight

Flying Antalya to Manchester are you likely to be able to see any active volcanoes? I believe Italy is a hot bed pardon the pun. Any contenders please?

Not unless you’ve got a connecting flight in Catania.

I wouldn't worry about it, these things are very well monitored these days.

I can remember seeing Stromboli smoking a few years ago during a flight down into Africa in winter on a very clear day, but we were high and to the West by at least 30 miles. One of the joys of looking at the world out of the window.
Cheers

Same if you fly in Chile - you're rarely out of sight of a volcano at altitude - same in parts of Indonesia

When visiting Kagoshima, we did not see it from the air but very much enjoyed sitting in the pools of hot water that Sakurajima kindly heated for us. That evening, we watched her puffing away whilst eating dinner. 'She'?? Not sure but seemed the right gender!

The simple answer is no, unless you’re on a flight that has got a bit lost.
