DUB transit
My partner just arrived DUB on LH with a connecting flight on FR. She was told she couldn’t use flight connections as FR didn’t pay for the service. Is this true? Can you not connect in DUB to / from any Ryanair flight? Thanks.

You cannot even connect between two FR flights without clearing immigration and going back through security. I took a detour through Dublin travelling London - Newcastle during a rail strike (£21ish total!) but knew in advance what the arrangement was.
One thing to keep in mind which may not be obvious is there is a very long walk from the Ryanair pier, and a very long walk back again.

This may only work one way, when flying to Dublin from Kerry and doesn’t support those with checked in bags. I’ve seen it promoted by Ryanair and there was articles about it last year (https://m.independent.ie/regionals/k.../41778762.html) but I can’t find any reference to it via Dublin Airport.
this is likely as it is a domestic flight as I think the other PSO flight to Donegal has reciprocal arrangements.

It has been like that since the launch of the transfer facility and unfortunately a ridiculous DUB airport policy. I cannot see how it costs the airport more to have a passenger use the transfer facility security instead of departures security. If anything, it would (very slightly) relieve congestion at departure security screening. Why not facilitate hand baggage only self connects and make the airport more attractive (look at MXP's "Via Malpensa"), instead of doing the opposite.
Ryanair Kerry arrivals self connects are exempt but they are not subject to security screening anyway. I had one incident a few weeks ago where I found myself on a heavily delayed Kerry arrival and the special connecting lane could have helped, only to find it shut.

And of course it simplifies baggage etc - it ALL comes off - you don't have to search for connecting baggage and then move it across the airport. LOW COST AIRLINE means you don't get what would would/should/might get on a so-called "full service" airline.
And many of the places served by LCO's can't be served by a full cost airline
It's the price we pay

If you are really lucky you may even see your baggage again, I didn't
Transmitted AC to EI domestic a few times and always smooth, it can take longer than you would expect though
will be doing AC to FR next time should be interesting

Very useful guide on the DUB website (surprisingly ) with a handy downloadable PDF.
Which states a very simple rule:
As we know FR doesn't offer this and, I assume, your partner didn't check in to the final destination (again as LH/FR don't do this) so the question is answered

UnderASouthernSky, I agree. She travelled with hand baggage only and onward boarding pass.
