Eurowings
Could someone explain the reason for Lufthans group setting up Eurowings Europe as a separate airline with its own AOC and aircraft when it already has Eurowings ? The branding of the 2 airlines is of course the same. I'm fully aware it's likely part of a cost cutting strategy but not sure how it all fits together exactly
Is it intended to be a lower cost version of Eurowings, a replacement of Tyrolean/Austrian or is it part of the AirBerlin/Niki gameplan ?

Eurowings Europe is part of the Eurowings Group and the airline operating to/from Austria (VIE and SZG) and this summer another base at PMI will be opened.
Basically it was the plan to use Austrian Airlines staff (with other contracts than Eurowings or Lufthansa colleagues) for those aircrafts.
Germanwings operates on behalf of Eurowings. So Lufthansa has several companies for the same aim/market. Of course taxes, wages, traffic rights etc. are reasons for this construct.
Time will tell how Brussels Airlines will fit in this going forward.

3 A332 to be based at Munich next summer with leisure destinations - formerly served by Air Berlin and/or Condor - announced. CGN will get a 4th long-haul aircraft next summer.

Still room for Norwegian to enter the market with their long-haul routes if they want to do it in Germany anytime soon.

EUROWINGS - Too many delays!
As a once regular and contented user of Eurowings for quite a number of years I am becoming increasingly frustrated with their more recent time performance. Relating to 2017, their operation is plagued with delays and it doesn't get better. They really need to get their act together with their scheduling. If anyone is thinking of using them to connect with another airline be sure to factor in a generous connection time with your travel plan!
