Brilliant news for Exeter and getting a second based aircraft, additional 80,000 seats will be most welcome

Great news, I was only saying on the BOH thread a couple of days ago that:
''Locally, EXT Exeter Airport is weak, with only TUI offering 'mirror image Packages' flying from there, with only one based 737 with no planned growth expected (TUI at EXT was to have increased to two aircraft pre-Pandemic). Exeter are possibly at their lowest point in decades in offering Package Holidays.''

So TUI will now have 2 planes each based at EXT and BOH for S25.
That's more like it.

The Rigby group/RCA have done a brilliant job at all 3 of there main airports EXT, BOU and NWI in pursuing growth in some form over recent times and onwards into the future as seen for 2025. whilst continuing to make a profit for their aviation division. Fantastic stuff

Exeter sees Alicante increase to 4x weekly for Summer 2025 with FR, all other FR routes return at same frequency.

KLM Cityhopper to start flights to Amsterdam from 30th March

1x Daily

fantastic news for Exeter really felt that has been a missing link in the KLM network for the UK

On weekdays, looks to be a SOU based aircraft, operating this return between SOU-MAN rotations.

The final freight flight on behalf of Royal Mail from Exeter to East Midlands (and return) took place last night.
Operated by Swift Air ATR72 EC-KJA it ends around 40 years of Royal Mail services from Exeter.

I saw one trailing over Hampshire today heading to Exeter and wondered if it was new route.

Dream for me would be YVR or YYZ from Exeter
Air Transat used to do something years ago but it was via LGW. Is it even practical with runway length

It was via STN. Hard to believe now that several UK regional airports had regular non-stop routes to Canada. With what is going on in the USA perhaps there might be a renaissance, doubt the likes of Exeter and Leeds/Bradford would return though.

Not sure about LGW or STN but it definitely routed YYZ-EXT-BHX-YYZ 2002-2005 when I was working at BHX, operated on the A310. Crew change was at BHX. Shame there were no 5th freedom rights EXT-BHX!

CP Air, Wardair, Worldways, Nationair Air Transat and flyglobespan between them served just about every UK regional to YYZ (YHZ for globespan) over the years.

Late 90’s early 2000’s was definitely via STN on the 757 IIRC.

I've always been fascinated about the former Canadian carriers over the years and the amount of regional flights they offered.

Other Canadian airlines that operated from UK regional airports include the likes of Canada 300, Crownair, Oddesey International, Royal Airlines, Sunwing, Zoom.

Although mainly catering to the Canadian home market other Canadian charter airlines from the past include the likes of Air Club International, Ontario Worldways, Pacific Western Airlines, Québecair.

Gatwick in particular used to see various Canadian carriers on the ground at the same time during the early to mid 1980's.

Crownair used to serve Exeter with DC-8-52's but I'm not sure about Oddesey International ever using the airport with their Boeing 757s. I'm sure someone can confirm whether they did or not.

Towards the final years, Air Transat operated the route via NCL just before termination on the A310.
