The way I look at it is this.
You have various options. But you are personally choosing none of them. You know the rules and how it is well ahead of your travels. You can’t complain about it when you are choosing to go against the rules. It’s no different to someone turning up at the gate with an oversize bag and getting the hump when they knew well in advance it wasn’t allowed on board and then causing a stink. You see, this is the problem with our society today. So many folk are full of self importance and just because they don’t like it, they feel it’s their right to go against it. But you can’t get the a*** about it because you have/had options. It’s YOU that’s choosing not to accept any of them.
If if you don’t like how it is then you really do need to reassess the situation and perhaps book a different flight from a different airport. If it’s Southend however, don’t turn up too early as the airport terminal is closed overnight and it’s damn cold outside this time of year.
To to be blunt, it is you that’s making the situation awkward for yourself. And the only person it affects is you I’m afraid.

Just to add our so called ‘KGB’ men and women will only ask you to move if you are lying down, blocking entrances or blocking fire exits and emergency equipment. They DO NOT go around waking everyone up, just the ones going against the rules.

In fact with Armastice day just a week away suggest you do a bit of reading up on the most brutal police state ever within Europe.
Still if your flying somewhere it’s your choice to arrive early and camp out I suppose.
Done it myself when I was a teenager at Gatwick but not these days; far to old and with those many room only hotel chains these days think a nice sleep in the general vicinity of an airport and short taxi ride hardly out of the question to be honest.
Alternative stump up a little cash for a lounge.( not much cheaper than the room only hotel chains so not my choice however it’s an option )

It is a shame that STN has lost long haul from Thomas Cook as well as TUI as I was expecting both of them to expand rather than cease their long haul operations from the airport having a north London airport complementing their LGW operations.
Thomas Cook could have built up a similar long haul operation at STN to what they have achieved at MAN especially as their long haul operation at LGW is rather small.
Two airlines that I've always thought that STN could have gained and to have been a potential airport for their north London operations are the possibility of seasonal flights with Virgin Atlantic to Orlando and Air Transat returning to the airport and resuming Toronto even if the latter was once or twice weekly.
If and when JetBlue finally announce their intention of flying Transatlantic I'm rather confident that STN will mentioned but until we see an official press release from the company it's just speculation at this point in time.
MAG have stated that they were pursuing a Chinese connection but considering that there have been many new connections from various Chinese airlines recently being started from LHR and the fact they don't seem to hang around at LGW very long I think that it will be a while before we see STN gaining that elusive Chinese connection.
One long haul airline that I could see eventually adding STN to their network is the Singapore Airlines low cost long haul airline SCOOT.
Other than that I can't honestly see what long haul airline could possibly announce STN although I should imagine that Emirates will go double daily at some point.

Maybe incorrect to parallel LGW & STN regarding the Chinese carriers as MAG are approaching that particular market with a different perspective.
The pitch just as much concerns the East of England & the "Cambridge Corridor" other than just the London Market per se & have achieved large regional backing.
MAG have achieved success for MAN selling regionality to the Chinese & SE Asian market & will have the expertise/contacts & figures to succeed.
As mentioned though the numbers of new services at LHR/LGW must be eating into the number of services agreed/permitted in the latest bilateral.
Chinese carriers are naturally cautious with Western markets & no doubt the "B" word may make them doubly cautious until everyone can resolve where the pieces fall.

STN and MAN are different though, Manchester isn’t London whereas Stansted is and there will be the cultural issue of pride and prestige to overcome in terms of the perception that LHR is the prize to be seen at. CEO X will not want their airline at a lesser airport to CEO Y regardless of its merits.
I’d also suggest the benefit of Cambridge in the context of a Chinese route is minimal, and STN’s best hope with the Chinese market is to poach LHR waiting room traffic from LGW. With a number of routes already at LHR, even that ship looks to have sailed.

That`s quite funny intentionally or not...
There probably is as with Chinese surnames a Chairman X and a Chairman Y.
Your conjecture v my conjecture only time will tell as they say...although with my caveat concerning natural caution & the "B" cloud.

I’m not sure the airport really needs it - passengers are passengers and short haul shoves more through the shopping at the terminal.
i too am surprised at TC and TUI but I guess if they were profitable then they would have stayed.
i also think narrow body TA service will work, from either Luton or Stansted. It just needs someone with some solid financial backing to allow the initial slow start curve not to bankrupt them. I’d have thought seasonal Orlando and Vegas services would sell, but I wonder if that’s enough to justify the cost of operating at another airport for someone like virgin

Thought initially to have been replaced at STN by THY Cargo,Etihad Cargo recommenced ops this week with 2 weekly,Days 2 & 4 B77F service over a different routing.
China Southern Cargo have added a further rotation,Day 7 to their B77F services to STN.
