New Multistorey Carpark

Planning a two week holiday in January, so I thought I'd see what the cost would be to park the car in the new multistorey carpark. Surprise! You can't book for that long a period. Why not?
I'm quite prepared to pay over the odds in order to avoid the scrummage to get on the bus, but that doesn't appear to be possible. Does STN only want 2 or 3 day pax to use the new car park?

It shows in the booking engine as ‘Short Stay Green’.

In all fairness 2 weeks isn’t short stay, so that’s probably why it’s not offered to pre-book.

That must be the reason why I couldn't get a quote then . Thanks for pointing it out.
A pity, as one if the reasons that I have not used STN in recent years has been the need to use a bus connection to the car parks. The valet car parking the last time I used it was a complete fiasco, so I am reluctant to use it again.

Where has this been announced?

August doesn’t make sense as it’s peak season and most holidays in August should have been sold.

November is when the base base closes annually (MT has been a summer only base for a few years now).

Thomas Cook actually shut their STN crew base I believe end of Summer 2017. Since then they've been using wholly third party operators, with 2x aircraft from Smartlynx, as a summer only operation.

They bring in a third aircraft to support the summer peak but this is only a temporary relocation from the Glasgow base.

For Summer 2020 it looks to reduce to just a single A320 from Smartlynx all season, only flying around six or seven routes.

Thomas Cook

So on closer investigation it looks like some of these routes were planned to end at the end of August, which is still the case.

It also looks like Thomas Cook are using just one aircraft at Stansted for Summer 2020. No Canaries flight, no Balearic flights. Greece/Turkey heavy schedule by the looks of things.

Probably a mix of MT cost cutting and the ‘Jet2 effect’.

Flew with Thomas Cook last year and the flights are flown by Smartlynx Cockpit crew but the Cabin Crew are wholly Thomas Cook. I know that’s the same this year, I don’t believe Smartlynx provide any cabin crew for the Stansted based fleet. Not sure if this is the same at other TCX bases.

Thomas Cook Flights for Next Year:

https://www.thomascookairlines.com/e...able_S2020.pdf

A massive drop with only two or three daily flights in peak summer.

Goven that STN last year was already in striking distance of MAN for the #3 spot on the list of the UK's busiest airports (only 300.000 pax or a little over 1 per cent shy of the MAN fgure), how have things developed? Will STN be the UK's #3 in 2019 behind LHR and LGW? Based on the growth figures for 2018, it should, by now, have made that move.

This is great news considering that even Stansted Airport on Twitter confirmed on launch that this was to be a ‘seasonal route’.

Excellent news that it continues year round.

Does anyone know what the QR PAX aircraft was doing at STN today? Did it park Northside?

Or some of the "so-called supercar drivers" back home to save them being hauled up in court?

G-SMLA just made an emergency landing at Stansted, all flights holding or stopped on the ground, hope everyone is ok as it went off radar just before landing and on squawk 7700.

Edit: flights resumed at 07:50 about 5 minutes later.

G-SMLA had just departed SEN on a positioning flight to Rome and reportedly had a flap problem. Presumably the longer runway at STN was considered preferable from a safety point of view.
