Apparently EZY won't be releasing winter schedule for either STN or SEN. I do hope this is not true (as I will be affected) but in reality how tenable is EZY's position, especially at STN.
It is EZY's policy to be either no 1 or 2 or not really bother but with LS growing and STN getting busier with other airlines EZY does seem to be losing its importance at STN.

EZY have about 7/8? aircraft based at Stansted operating on most routes as the single operator. It’s hardly their smallest base in the U.K. Why on earth would they close the operation down?
Utter rubbish IMHO.

easyJet have been operating out of Stansted for years and I struggle to see them cutting it as a base let alone cutting both Stansted and Southend from the network.

This ridiculous rumour comes up year after year, with absolutely no substantiated evidence.

We are only replacing planes, not growing the fleet, and all expansion is likely to be in Europe, so airframes will go where they can make the most money. Jet2, with a fabulous brand and shiny new planes have taken over the mantle and now do all the old GO network and some....

We have 7 aircraft at STN and I’ve heard one rumour from a source at LTN that we will lose an airframe at STN this summer, and another that they are considering closing STN, SEN or both from next winter.

This rumour has been posted year in year out for as long as I can remember on here and other sites.

I think releasing late is where we are. EZY has to focus on shareholder value and is probably the best (except perhaps Wizz) to be able to exploit greater certainty in Europe than in the UK market, where many question marks remain. If EU negotiations go well then we may not see much difference. But if they go badly the Pound will loose value so will go less far abroad. Jet2 for example will have to price aggressively - they don't have a substantial European network. Easy can just retrench here at least for a while and place their airframes in the more certain, if not more prosperous EU markets. I don't see much other than austerity for the UK- rumour has Savid Javed is asking for 5 % cuts across the board from Government departments this spring.

EZY won't close STN, it makes no sense. Contrary to popular belief STN performs well as a base with load factors and RPS high. Obviously growth has been stagnant for some time with a greater focus in LTN and LGW. STN however fits into the larger London image with 7 prime AM summer slots which are now near impossible to get. Nor would they allow a competitor come in and take the slots to compete at a London level - STN is also core to EZY's domestic strategy.
Where I think this rumour has come from is EZY thinking 'worse case scenario' with the end of the transition deal, if it goes horribly wrong then we may see the airline suspend winter ops until the pound stabilises again, however I do believe this is unlikely.

Purely speculation
People have assumed this STN/SEN rumour is based around Brexit. Another hypothesis is the fact that a major British regional carrier appears on the cusp of collapse and there will be a crop of key airports willing to make deals with airlines able and willing to fill the gap.
ots safe to say the EZY have london very much covered and operate out of 4 airports. With flybe gone, the likes of MAN would be on obvious place to grow and the likes of BHX would be a tempting new base to set up ...not to miss the likes of BHD and GLA/EDI wanting/needing to plug the gap. We already know that EZY applied for BHX slots to operate AMS/CDG/MXP/TXL/NAP in addition to the new BHX - GLA/EDI routes they’ve added but weren’t able to follow through or find the slots... the intent however seemed to be there somewhere in ways head of EZY HQ
The loss of flybe represents a massive opportunity for EZY/RYR and the winners at the ones who can grab the routes fastest. For that you need to spare planes.
Just a thought...

We need to realise Flybe aren’t that big internationally in reality. Paris and Amsterdam from Birmingham are already on offer to others from the Connect buy out .Whilst partners KL/AF can backfill any lost capacity with ease.
Flybe have been trounced from Milan by Ryanair and EasyJet from Manchester already both fill the larger planes with ease and Birmingham could easily be next .
The German routes can be replaced by Eurowings again
And their money loosing dead weight French routes are effectively gone or very reduced seasonal . Nantes picked up by Ryanair from Manchester and Bordeaux served by both orange and harp .
Easy have placed a foot in the water to build Jersey from Manchester whilst they already connect the neighbouring airport with Ellan Vannin . Likely Stobart move this route over fully if Flybe seizes.
A collapse would create far more damage domestically including the later day competition with BA using the remedy slots to Aberdeen and Edinburgh from Heathrow.
That venture hasn’t really gone to plan has it -St Mawgan gone south of the river again and both Isle of Man and Guernsey canned in short order.
Doesn’t play to the HAL regional connectivity mantra either !

Aberdeen (easyjet destination)
Berlin (easyjet destination)
Hamberg (easyjet destination)
Hannover
Inverness (easyjet destination)
Jersey (easyjet destination)
Lyon (easyjet destination)
Milan (easyjet destination)
Strasburg
The following routes would also see significant losses
Amsterdam (easyjet destination)
Paris (easyjet destination)
Just because its flybe doesn’t mean it’s a route that easyJet wouldn’t be interested in... they just need the aircraft. They also relate quite well to the routes easyJet applied for slots to serve out of bhx this summer!
anyway I appreciate this is going off topic but hope you see where I’m coming from!

Well I can o oh speak for BHX for based on their Summer 19 schedule, if Flybe folded, the following key routes would go unserved from BHX..
Aberdeen (easyjet destination)
Berlin (easyjet destination)
Hamberg (easyjet destination)
Hannover
Inverness (easyjet destination)
Jersey (easyjet destination)
Lyon (easyjet destination)
Milan (easyjet destination)
Strasburg

Amsterdam (easyjet destination)

We know you mean Stuttgart not Strasburg !
But joking apart there are a lot more easyjet destinations that BHX is lacking.
I am sure if they had spare aircraft we would see more orange at BHX.

Air India
I was looking at AI’s STN flights and saw that ATQ is open for reservation until the end of S20 but BOM is only for sale until the end of W19/20. Is BOM only seasonal or could it even be temporary?
Edit: AI’s BHX flight are open for reservation until the end of W20/21.
