I suspect speculation and gossip would be rife amongst the staff internally anyway, without the froth of pprune.

ATNotts...Thanks for your expeditious reply but I stand by the comments. You should turn your attention to a particular "private equity company" as you frame it..
Yes absolutely whilst agreeing the comments are obviously v annoying to you I would say again on the basis of evidence & some hard reality not a million miles from you, that you should not be attempting to censor other posters thoughts or the way they express them...
& of course National newspapers..Believe me others can really really think for themselves & are not too far removed from that thing which is every day life & also called reality & with regard to probably does not require your worthy good self as champion & censor.. sorry..

I would humbly suggest that potentially many tens of thousands of British citizens stranded overseas IS the remit of Government...& if you wish to add politics nothing that the PM or one or two senior ministers (well one) would want at this volatile time & with the Tory conference convening is to be seen as audience & as bystanders..(just like us)..

Nope. It's an inconvenience but not a disaster or emergency, no one is in danger. It's down to tour operators and the regulators, and that's the line the FO would take.

From sky new

Sky Sources: The future of Monarch Airlines is in doubt as the aviation regulator decides whether to grant it a temporary licence extension

Also some news coming out (all be it on twitter) about Qatar aircraft positioned at STN are to fly as rescue flights for Monarch if a temporary licence is not given.

Perhaps you would care to shake some political runes....Whilst you are correct to a degree ..who at the present time is in charge @ the FO ?...We have witnessed the public fall out with the RYR affair & things have a nasty habit of "blowing up" in political faces which I state again is not what any of them require in the febrile atmosphere within HM Government & especially when all will be on show at Conference.Government & ministers will require to be seen as having been & being "hands on" & not surprised innocent bystanders I would argue..Tens of thousands is quite a big deal mate...

Usual Venture Capital trick - buy, load up the debt, pay yourself vast divis, try and unload shares before it all goes pear-shaped....

Doubt there's any political will or avenue to help Monarch unfortunately

Thanks daz211 this was the reason for my original post on the STN thread several days ago with the bald statement concerning those arrivals & then all your good investigative efforts.
Further postings to others in which I alluded to "hard evidence & reality parked" was maybe too subtle..
To make it perfectly clear I would be as sorry as anybody else if they were put to use but that would be no reason to deny or not report available evidence..

How many UK citizens have been affected by the current Ryanair debacle? Has the Government said a word?

CAA update

The CAA can confirm that ATOL protection will remain available for eligible holiday bookings made with Monarch up until/on Sunday as the regulator decides whether to grant the airline a Temporary licence extension.

The regulator had been engaged in an exercise in recent weeks to source aircraft from around the world in case Monarch's finances deteriorated, but had faced a challenge posed by US officials' need for spare planes to evacuate people from the hurricane-hit Caribbean, However Aircraft have been secured and are now on standby to repatriate customers if necessary.

People are confusing the possibility that the holiday arm of Monarch could be put into administration, with the collapse of the airline. The former is currently a possibility, the latter isn't.

10,000 people having to be found an alternative flight home (possibly on Monarch itself) isn't going to exercise national politicians. They have bigger issues to occupy them at the moment.

Yes, the media are fueling the speculation by simply crass, incorrect reporting.

There you have it, if people on this site who are more in the know than the traveling public are getting confused what's that going to do to the remaining Airline ? people see Monarch as a brand, one entity, so only a year after the same situation most people will not book flights on the remaining airline because trust in the brand won't be there, UNLESS we see an end to Monarch short haul and a rebranding of the reported NEW longhaul airline things will look bleak for Monarch in a time when people are thinking of 2018 holidays.

So here we are again. The papers saying monarch airlines is on the brink, a year after we were promised it would never happen again.

2013 - redundancy in engineering
2014 - battering of remuneration package
2015 - loads of people left, good people
2016 - on the brink, worried about if I will have a job on Monday
2017 - as above

Its been a grim 4 years and I can't see it getting better, good people have left, some have had to stay due to geography, the future will be bright for us all as soon the circus moves on and lets the people that can run an airline do it.

Q400 and Embraers' anyone?
