There had been a suggestion that ATH was to be included in some new route launches from the UK but couldn't see that added. They are Cyprus based are they not and not Greek ?

Although I think it's an utter shambles that there's now going to be 4 Cypriot airlines when 1 barely survived, I think doing routes from Athens, and possibly Thessaloniki could help them cut a niche out for themselves and survive.
For example, Newcastle has had past services to Athens and to Thessaloniki, there is a proven market, but I doubt Aegean are ever going to go for either of those routes. Cobalt on the other hand, could be the right guys for the job. Or Ryanair of course... But Cobalt too

Yes... Sustained summer seasonal flights to both of them by various different operators
Cobalt + Olympic holidays, x1/2 weekly summer seasonal flights, low fares booked direct. Done.
And that's not just for Newcastle, there'll be a lot of airports that could benefit. With Turkey, Tunisia and Egypt out of bounds for a while, I reckon out of the thousands, there's 180 people a week who'd consider going to Halkidiki instead

Word on the street is that Cobalt are waiting to confirm delivery an additional A320/A321 prior to the start of the Summer season to put NCL, GLA, CWL, TLV and the rest of the remaining new routes on-sale.
I'm told it shouldn't be too much longer now. Leaving it a tad late for Summer 2017, especially at those UK airports.

I do hope they hurry!
It'll be grand, as long as they expect 20-30% load factors
If I were them I'd do it for S18... Or at least wait until the end of October... But, we shall see how things go. Hopefully there'll be lots of punters hungry for a last minute holiday

Not everyone plans their life a year ahead and books holidays lightyears in advance.
There is still plenty of time to get these flights on sale and make a success of them for Summer 2017.

Yeah, not everyone... But I think it's safe to say that from NCL, 75% of passengers will book at least 6 months in advance
They can get away with it from the South East, but up here it's a different story. Anecdotally, everyone I know is booked up for 2017 already, and a good lot of them are booked up for 2018
They will find it difficult to fill up 180 seats 2 months in advance (assuming late March start). July and August should be *ok* but outside of that I think loads will be weak. Glasgow and Tel Aviv should fare better, but NCL will struggle and if the Cardiff market is anything similar, unless they can appeal to some of the more affluent Bristol area passengers. 2017 will be hard.

Not sure about NCL but CWL always had strong passenger loads when Air 2000 operated weekly schedules between CWL and both LCA & PFO, as well as their own schedules ex BRS.
Cyprus has always been a strong market from CWL with a big gap in it at present, hopefully we will learn of Cobalts plans over the next few weeks

New routes BRU and TLV are now on-sale, with flights starting on the 26th March - Not a long lead in time at all on those two.
New routes ex-UK are to go on-sale 'shortly'.
