An interesting comparison of attitudes here:
A day after the news that Iran and Airbus are pretty much along the ordering road, they approached Boeing to talk about 100 orders with them.
Boeing are thinking about it!

Suspect Boeing is further along than just thinking about it -- they've been selling manuals, drawings, charts and tech data to Iran since 2Q 2014. No doubt a few glossy brochures were shipped along with the parts.

That's the thing about sanctions; there's always a way around them.

Now if we can just get them to buy some F-35A's, we can make some serious money selling them software and software upgrades for the next 35 years. (Sorry for the leak in from the Mil forum, but the humor opportunity was too strong to resist).

According to the Wall Street Journal, with respect to Boeing:
The plan maker still was trying to sort out how to deal with Iran and comply with the U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control rules

In other words, the US Government hasn't told Boeing how they can talk to Iran without getting into trouble with the US Government.

Iran Aircraft Order

Word has it that 9 x A345's are included on a short term lease/sale. These could well be the ex EK fleet.

The left-wing BBC is reporting that the Iranian PM is visiting Italy and France to sign trade deals including for "100" airbuses.

the problem as I understand it is $$$ and how to receive them from Iran in exchange for B 7xx

The Foreign Asset Control rules aren't really part of the UN Sanctions - somehow they're seperate and have to be changed by Congress (in an election year.... with the the Saudis & Israelis against.... snowball, Hades, chance.......)

Someone said US oil companies will have the same problems if they go back into Iran

I think this is a phenomenally good thing! But I'll be trying my hardest to get to Iran ASAP for the classics on their way out!

If I were them though, I wouldn't buy off Boeing... But it's nice to see Iran don't seem to be holding any grudges.

Orders should be signed for tomorrow, fingers crossed they'll breathe a little life into some A340's for a few years, hoping especially for A342's and A345's
