Why do you wonder that, Timmy?

Cost cutting only works if you can get rid of the aircraft. As long as you have, what, 80-odd hulls operating in a market that can sustain 60ish, you can't sustain the business. Connect wasn't the issue, the fleet expansion going into IPO was.

It will just be interesting to see whether they stick around at DSA and keep their contract or want to break it,

I suspect that there will be a break clause if the losses being made are unsustainable.

I use Flybe for work in a couple of directions from Doncaster Sheffield. An informal survey tells me that load factors are usually quite good, even if on time performance is not so good..

Thanks davidjohnson6, I found the answer about cremated remains in their website FAQ - which is just about the first time an airline FAQ has answered my question! The answer is - turn up with the right paperwork and go.

LCY

Quick question: why did this evenings DUS LCY divert to SEN with AMS LCY currently holding over the North Sea?

You cannot book for any of the Stobart Air franchise routes beyond October at present. Obviously the winter SEN routes will be decided by Stobart themselves.

The Mitsubishi MRJ90 was at Exeter yesterday morning for evaluation by Flybe after it's debut at the Paris Air Show.

BE would just be the likely ones for a loose cannon off the wall order for this... that hasn't even been certified.

Why shouldn't they look at the aircraft? And if only to have better leverage when negotiating with Embraer and Bombardier.

...and why wouldn't the MRJ folk want to show off their machine to FlyBE, rather than just fly over the top on their way back to USA. All perfectly sensible, IMHO.

Why shouldn't they look at a new aircraft ? Comparable to the existing BE core market, and the E175, it's certainly a valid competitor come fleet renewal time if the numbers add up.

As mentioned above, brings another manufacturer into the Embraer/Bombardier type of market so can only be good news for airlines such as BE with greater choice and flexibility.

Forgive me for being a bit pessimistic, but are Flybe's finance really in the right sort of state at the moment to be acquiring new regional jet aircraft ? I keep getting this feeling that a year of stability and profits would do wonders for the company balance sheet and the confidence of anyone lending the money to buy new aircraft

From today's Irish Independent newspaper - Stobart Air could be interested in buying out Flybe.

Stobart's CEO won't rule out approach for Flybe - Independent.ie
