my travel
been wondering who they are for past 2 weeks - they operate into egpf and i've seen 3 different A320's so far - one in full blown colour scheme, one with just orange/blue "My Travel" logo on fwd fuse and a plain white one with "My Travel" on upper fwd fuse.
Can anyone tell me who they are and where do they operate to/from? Cheers

My Travel is the new name for Airtours, both the airline and the tour operator. The travel agent shops change from Going Places to My Travel.
The aircraft are slowly being painted and are at various stages, hence the 'differing' schemes you have seen. There are one or two in the full scheme and more with My Travel on the forward lower fuselage and the Airtours Stripes on the Tail!

MyTravel flexes seat-only offer to satisfy self-packagers
MyTravel has clarified the lead story in the finance section of today’s Guardian, misleadingly headlined ‘MyTravel starts no-frills airline.’
‘We are a low-cost airline already,’ a spokesperson told e-tid.com. ‘We have one million seat-only passengers a year and we want to use this to develop the MyTravel brand as one that is to meet all travel needs.
‘What we are planning is to flex our existing capacity and repackage it in a different way. There are no new aircraft planned and we are not launching a new brand, but we will be changing how we market our seat-only offer.’
The spokesperson went on to explain that the main difference between MyTravel and the traditional low-costs is the tour operator’s rigid 7/14 day durations. ‘We need to introduce flexibility into our systems in order to capitalise on the self-packaging market without undermining our core tour operating business.'
The move is part of the tour operators’ response to the recent growth in independent travellers. Tim Byrne tells the Guardian that MyTravel is missing out on this new market of DIY holidaymakers.
Rival tour operator First Choice announced at its FY presentations that it was looking to enhance the seats-only channel on its web site with an announcement expected in the second quarter of this year.

MyTravel TV
MyTravel higher up's latest circular announces the start of MyTravel TV, backed up by the BBC.
Now is it me or is this not such a good idea?
One thing that gets me is: what are the programmes going to be like? Nonstop holiday footage? Lonely Planet-type shows 24 hours a day? Why would anybody watch MyTravel TV when they wouldn't even watch ITV digital??
Where are they getting the necessary expertise to launch a successful television channel catering to millions with diverse tastes?
Sounds like a first class, number one clanger on the part of MyTravel management to me. (Must be an idea from the same people who spent £70 million on a rebrand in the middle of an economic crisis )
Allegedly this is to "increase market penetration". We'll see. We will see.

Re: My Travel -new no frills airline?
Tour operator MyTravel - formerly Airtours - plans to take on easyjet and Ryanair with the launch of its own low-cost airline later this year.
The as-yet unamed airline will fly from a "major UK airport" on 10 routes. It is hoped the service will expand "significantly" by 2003.
The news came as MyTravel announced big losses for the last half of 2001 after being hit by Septmeber 11th.
