Go on then I'll bite.
1)sycamore...going or not? It would appear they're staying
2)housing development....where are we? Not 100% sure, I would say planning application is likely imminent
3)where is Hugh(joke) Couldn't care less
4)cobhams calibration unit Move On. Or off? They're still saying they're leaving but it seems to be getting repeatedly delayed
5)FRL. Secure?? Who's FRL? Cobham? If so they are more than secure
6)klm and eastern safe ? No reason to suspect otherwise, although monthly pax figures show a decrease they are up for the quarter
7). Next year news. Fly be etc? Too early to say, they're always talking to different prospective airlines/clients etc
8). Any news that can be passed on in hope??? No comment due to my answer will mean I'll be slated on here and I can't be ad

Blackpool
I see that the doors are closing at Blackpool this month after no buyer is found
This is sad news but I hope that the same doesn't happen here even though Blackpool had more pax!
Let's hope peel don't run in the back of this news and do the same

Uncertain times
I would like to think Blackpool,Lydd,Manston et al didn't have the infrastructure and expertise that we have?
Also more schedules based operators etc. but however it's worrying times and I feel Blackpool will not be the last regional airport to close.
I Think Leeds,Manchester,humberside and Newcastle are all too close for comfort?
We might be close to the edge methinks!

I did a search of a couple of sources, and drew a blank on the cause of the delay.. I hoped that someone on here might know. Generally, the KLM punctuality is pretty good. I just hope that the lean resourcing of the airport doesn't jeopardise it's main revenue stream.
I worked at Teesside in the 1980s, part of a tight-knit team, and a wider family of terminal staff. Happy times, and lucrative times for British Midland. It saddens me to see the place as it is now.
Please don't jump to the conclusion that I'm simply running the place down.

Somebody will need to put forward a significant "public interest" aregument to overcome the 'commercial in confidence' defence against a FOI request.

On 07/01/03 it was announced that Peel Airports would be the ‘preferred bidder’ to become a Strategic Partner in the airports long-term development, with detailed negotiations taking place with the aim of finalising an agreement by March. Councillor Bob Gibson, speaking on behalf of the shareholder authorities, said they were impressed with the level of investment and expertise which the company was prepared to commit to Teesside International, coupled with the its strong track record in the transportation and property development fields. Peel will be working with the local authority shareholders to bring forward development of commercial property at the airport, including the regionally important Southside site, in addition to the operational business of the airport. Peel Airports Ltd owns Liverpool John Lennon Airport (one of the fastest growing airports in the UK) and also plans to develop a new commercial airport on the site of the former RAF Finningley, while its parent company Peel Holdings also owns the Manchester Ship Canal and the Trafford Centre shopping complex in Manchester. Under the proposals, Peel Airports will acquire a majority shareholding in the Airport, but the local authorities will retain a significant interest in the company and will be involved in its continuing development. Said Councillor Gibson “We were impressed by the high levels of interest shown by a large number of quality organisations in becoming involved in the continuing development of Teesside International. This will enable the Airport to provide the quality of terminal and other facilities which will attract both a much wider range of services and greatly increased passengers numbers with the prospect of reaching an annual figure of 1.5million, twice current levels, within five years. We believe the appointment of Peel Airports as a strategic partner would be in the interests of the Airport, its customers, staff and the economic future of our area.” Explained Airport Managing Director Hugh Lang “The local authorities, supported by the Airport management, began the process of securing a private sector strategic partner because we believed it was the most viable option for securing the levels of investment needed for the key projects which will enable the Airport to maximise its own potential and contribute to the regeneration of the communities its serves. Those projects and the levels of funding required were identified through a comprehensive assessment undertaken by the Airport Management, together with the regional development agency One NorthEast and external consultants. Other agencies, including the Tees Valley Partnership and Tees Valley Urban Regeneration Company, are also closely involved in supporting the Airport as a key element in the local economy.”

Re.the air miss/airport. It could happen anywhere!!! Doubtful atc at dtv where too complicit!! It's a complicated area with leeming and these things have been happening for years!!! Don't forget...leeming controllers are probably out of practise as well as they aren't so busy either(sorry)

Airport will cope fine just park it next to the P8 Poseidon which has been based for the past few weeks making a few quid. Feel sorry for the poor passengers having to go down all of the back roads to the Leeds airstrip on the hill!

ITV are advertising KLM routes from LBA,Man and HUY to Amsterdam. There is no mention of DTVA flights to AMS.Does your local tv programmes show these adverts? If not why not and is it a sign that KLM are thinking about the future of the DTVA-AMS route?
On my local ITV (is it still called Tyne Tees?) they advertise NCL and MME 'to the world', so must depend on your TV region (and I doubt whether they'd use an advertising campaign to signal their future route decisions...)

klm adverts
the same thing happens in the west country with klm flts from brs. there is nothing from cwl,but no dout klm adverts appear on the welsh channel.
