Question

Will the aircraft be new or used and if used, from where will they come?

Mr. Auto;

Can you provide a source for the info that you seem to have cut and pasted, if this is fact, and I'm sure it is, it's a valuable resource for employment seekers.

Does anyone know who supplies crews to Oman Air, or do they hire and train within?

Cheers all.

Thumbs up

As I know Oman Air hires direct. As per salary, they offered to FO in B737NG - 3684 USD tax free salary+2.36 for each hour of flying duty+263 USD for each hour exceeding 82 in a month+provided accomodation and others nice details.
Just interesting, who are flying there? Are they going to take new aircraft with crews or train local guys?

Oman Air

I used to work for them 7 years ago and at that time, Region Air out of Singapore did the recruiting. I don't know who it is now.

Talking

You are quite right. They used A320 wet leased from Region Air. The Region Air leases had gradually becoming "damp"as more of their pilots began flying the A320s.
They talked about A330 or B767 exactly 3 years ago and plan was to introduce its in 2002/3. (Flight International 7-13 April 1999)
As I see nothing can change Oman Air plan.

Unhappy

Sorry to disappoint you all, but I spoke to them yesterday specifically on this topic. The man I spoke to was adamant that they are in the process of acquiring 5 x 737 - 800 and that is all they are doing. He specifically mentioned that people had been calling him in response to threads in Pprune. He said that the information is WRONG.
They are not getting A 330s or B 767s.
I was not speaking to the Divisional Manager - Operations - he is out of the country at present. I was talking to his deputy.
