I saw this too, and I was surprised... I would have thought it was a bit too close to home in Europe for Lufthansa. I had hoped they would join OneWorld since they are already code-sharing some routes with BA.

In any case, looks like Qualiflyer is dying - I assume it will split up soon and perhaps Swiss join OneWorld?

The deal probably got sweetened in the same way as bmi - access to modern IT technology/MRO services etc at competitive rates with an equity holding when they go public.

Not many people keen to invest in LOT at the moment, including LH. Polish Gvt is finding it very hard to locate volunteers willing to take over SR's share.

This probably explains why I was turned away from the LOT lounge in WAW 2 weeks ago, even though I had a Club ticket on a LOT flight, apparently as I had bought it from BA it didn't qualify...

Angry

Perhaps they can come to Oz and operate in lieu of the late , deceased Star Alliance member,(many thousand frequent flyer points deceased) Ansett. I was under the impression LOT were part of the Oneworld group.
