Liverpool to be Ryanair New Base
In addition to the announcement that Ryanair is to link Liverpool to Brussels Charleroi its was also revealed that they, the airport and the airline, have signed a long term 10 year agreement.
It is agreed that Ryanair will make Liverpool its north of England base. The airline will develop the links from its other bases prior to basing "a good few" aircraft at Liverpool.

The Liverpool airport company do not operate its airport on the assumption that it MAY receive diverts.
If the diverts affect its scheduled traffic by blocking stands it will not accept them in the first place.
The apron stand markings have been re-set and provides 21 stands with some of them designed to accept widebody aircraft.

Also heard a RUMOUR, when at Manchester the other day, Ryanair where going to develop Manchester as their new base and have some agreement with the airport for free landing fees for five years. This was subject to them basing/operating X amount of aircraft out of Manchester.

The MAN story sounds like nonsense. How would the airport authority hope to continue a relationship with its existing full service carriers if it was offering free landing fees to tempt low cost carriers to come in and compete with them? I can't imagine Lufthansa or BA would take too kindly to Ryanair being given free landing fees to operate a Hahn service, for example.

Uummmm........and I am also hearing Coventry is a possibility for both MOL and Stelios, although the locals won't like the MOL's 200's launching out of there.

The locals at Coventry are never happy, no matter what. But since it was a 737-200 which stuffed in short of 23 seven years ago, I should think they'll be marching on the place with burning torches.. .Still, it has excellent access to all the main motorways, so would probably be favourable with the punters.
Lovely soup!

So it does look as though they are going to compete with the big boys at the big airports then, if Blazing Mongo's list is correct.
There was I thinking they flew to Hahn, Sandefjord, Bergamo, Beauvais, etc.

ringwayman/dkerr/dvkerr/david_itl and any other alias you use, maybe you could show people on this forum where you are coming from ie. examples of other postings/work elsewhere on the net.
A couple of examples,

and a quote from the message board uk.transport.air when refering to Ryanair "They are an airline that SHOULD BE DISBANDED FORTHWITH as they don't service the travelling public the truth of where they will end up NOR can be relied upon to give accurate price comparisons."

Sour grapes, is it? I think not!
Wait until Ryanair start to pull stunts like the one they pulled at Bristol recently (witholding 50% of landing fees). That's when you'll see the true benefits of dealing with the cut price operators.
Remember, guys, arrogance and high-handedness aren't the exclusive domain of BA and the like - the cheapies can be just as bad once they've got you over a barrel.....Just ask the management at Luton.

Does that arrogance and high handedness extend to EGCC management, anyway i'am sure EGCC would have welcomed those swines from Ryanair with open arms, as previously said , a case of sour grapes.

Errrrr.......Mr Mongo, in case you haven't noticed, Ryanair already DO serve Manchester!!
Admittedly there's only a Dublin service, but then Manchester is well served by other airlines (you know, "real" ones like Lufthansa and Air France) flying to European cities (you know, the "real" ones, not airfields umpteen miles away from the nominal destination). And that's before we start talking long=haul!
Sour grapes?? What on earth for????? Like I said before, let's keep it real, eh?
