I don't think bmi are that keen to get rid of the 70, but when KLM cityhopper beat a path to your door with a fat wedge of Euros, you sell.

Lets face it chaps, BMIr are not exactly gonna give those guys and gals they laid off their jobs back are they. Nah, if any jobs are created from this then they will start the whole process again from scratch. Why not waste more money looking for new people ? And, I doubt very much if the 146 drivers will ever get the chance to take part in this "new project". Hated from day 1 right until the day the 146 flies away into oblivion.

Increased number of flights per week, and increase in duty times means an increase in crews. Now how will BMIr ops/crewing cope with that. Probably quite well, but without the support of "others" - and you know who I mean.

I agree with 'flightdeck', things do seem pretty fluid at bmir. Up until last week, word on the street at LBA was that some additional -145's were on the way. It now looks like they're being utilised at EMA to in preparation for the battle with GO. We're still hopeful of something up here though, it just might take a little longer than expected.

Don't get me wrong, Cork is welcome, as is the extra EDI service. Both are good ways of increasing fleet utilisation up here. However, the feeling was a few weeks some additional a/c were on their way with the usual talk of German / Copenhagen routes.

Thumbs down

Not sure about Frankfurt RAFAT. bmi have attempted. .a FRA service twice now from EMA and they have just pulled it for the second time.. .. .On the bmi regional subject, I have just enquired on the web for a return fare to GLA from EMA and it was cheaper than the staff travel rate!! It seems they are serious about slashing fares, but will it pay?????. .. .ES

RAFAT - Well FRA was the route we were expecting. The feeling was that with slots and and an a/c becoming available from the canning of the EMA route, then the whole thing would simply be moved up the M1. Alas, it seems it is not to be.. .. .Electric - LBA-FRA should fare OK. Arguably more business traffic than they'll get with BRU, plus the added advantage of a link into a 'Star' HUB. CPH is also a possibility.. .. .What's the delivery schedule for further 135/145s? I suspect this is now the best chance of any further growth at LBA - either that or things getting too hot at EMA with Go?. .. .682
