IBERIA strike in Madrid

Hi,
Some very good friends of mine are stuck in Madrid due to a strike at IBERIA.No-one seems to be able to tell them when they maybe able to depart for their next destination (they are flying from Miami to Switzerland) and have been placed in an Airport lounge to wait. Some say 24 hrs some say longer-----anyone have any idea what gives, please?
Thanks.
