Thai A345

Announced yesterday - Thai Airways International will remove a total of 11 aircraft from its operation this year, with a further 14 following in 2013. This year's retirements include two Airbus A300s, four A340-500s, two Boeing 747-400s and three Boeing 737-400s

This must mean the end of the direct Lax and New York services as all A345s are being disposed off?

This is the plan, unfortunately. It's quite sad, because I've always thought these aircraft were the most aesthetically pleasing of any livery/aircraft combination flying today. Sadly, economics wins; TG is soon to replace the nonstop with a LAX-ICN-BKK route, using a 772ER.

I think the nonstop to JFK is long since gone. The airline will continue in service until the end of the Summer season, possibly operating the odd service after that, because I don't think they have a buyer yet.

I came across this on the Airline Route site recently, which might be of interest:

Interesting, thanks. Means I'll have to remember to duck beneath those God awful centre stowage bins (if left open) and bring my ear plugs for future Lax flights!!
