Several German news sites are quoting a DPA report e.g. aero.de - Luftfahrt-Nachrichten und -Community
Google translation of part of the report:
Google translation of part of the report:
Saarbrücken - Saarbrücken airline Cirrus Airlines has suspended its operations for economic reasons first. The talks on the future of the company persisted, Managing Director Ingrid Schultheis said on Sunday.
Possibly results would be announced on Monday. The flight operation is limited since Friday evening to set the end of next week, passengers would be rebooked. The approximately 300 employees of Cirrus therefore continue to work at first.

My understanding is that the move came after take-over talks with Skywork failed last week and the owner decided to not pour any more money into the airline (which is only part of a larger group of aviation-related companies). The official line after the failed talks with Skywork was that both airlines had only been talking about a maintenance co-operation.
Apparently Cirrus is not insolvent, but has simply stopped operating. The CEO is being quoted that the suspension is only temporarily for next week, but realistically, who has seen a troubled airline resuming flights within a week of stopping all operations?
German message boards report that most Dorniers have been flown to the airlines maintenance base at Saarbrücken. Some suggest that some aircraft will be moved to the Cirrus Group's charter arm to offer Suckling-style ACMI-/charter operations in the future.

Hope they can restructure, but onces services are suspended it's hard to win confedence back!

Indeed Augsburg and Cirrus at one point belonged to the same airline group, however Cirrus was sold back to the original owner while Augsburg is still owned by ATON, same as DC Aviation which was build out of the former daimler chrysler flight ops and the Cirrus business aviation arm.
Sad days for all Cirrus employees, hope they find another job soon.
