Is anything likely to be full on 5th Feb? Even volume driven LCC struggle at this time of year to fill aircraft, let alone fill them profitably. You only need to look at all the parked up FR planes for the evidence of that.

I usually tend to agree with your analysis but on this occasion I differ. If KLM can do night stop and therefor offering a business solution for the Belfast Based Traveller with an early take off from Belfast and return say in the evening say to arrive about 730 that would work, putting say F28 on the route would address the capacity need.
Also the flight in on Friday night could go straight back to AMS and offer an evening flight to the leisure weekend traveller, no service on Saturday and 2 on Sunday evening one night stop for Monday early departure and the other to addres the weekend leisure traveller. These options ie early out late back business orientated schedule would satisfy the connectivity at the hub at AMS.
This would be my vision of the most effective solution for all parties concerned. Hence my contention that KLM are best placed airline to serve the route.

Good point 2nd dog. Don't think they'd be staying in the europa though. What sort of long term deal could they get from other hotels in the area.? What price for a rented house or 2 in Malone.?

Far better hypothetical discussions than the normal crayoning from certain folk about which airport is best.
Both airports are here to stay & I doubt very much any airlines route analysts are going to be swayed in their judgement regarding potential new routes by a forum such as this

For many reasons...
The schedule proposed by EI-BUD would work an absolute treat IMHO and I can confirm that EI BFS-AMS was not operated under codeshare with KL (...although the crew often incorrectly declared that it was during the pre-flight safety annoouncement).
All in all, and with the correct marketing in place this could work to the benefit of all concerned.
- Am from BFS
- Have lived in NL for 17 years
- Am an ex-KLC Ops employee

Interesting view regarding connections via AMS. Connections are important for NI pax however many connecting pax still look to LHR as their connecting airport, and I believe it will continue to be so.
LHR provides up to ten connections per day (7 with BA and 3 EI). Although EI BUD suggests a feasible timetable not all pax will be connections, so therefore any KLM flights will be in directly completion with EZY and we know what happened when WW started up to AMS, greater frequency and lower prices.
Reading a statistic that up to 30% of pax connect at LHR I think any connection figures at AMS will be in single digits and maybe zero on certain days
Flying westwards UA to EWR or the road to DUB and a range of flights to USA. Travelling to Middle East and Far East then good connections from DUB via Middle East carriers

yes be lovely if KLM came back to the Belfast market. Sadly I don't think they will. KLM/AF and BE are code share partners and will continue to offer connections. KLM's timetable shows connections through CDG and I suspect this is the depth of it. I would be most pleased if it happened though, whether it be BHD or a return to BFS - Belfast deserves the investment and a change from negative news stories.

the code share on this side of the water is through AF so it wouldn't matter. BE have lots of unfeasible and expensive connections throughout their route network, this being one of them.

I can't see them coming to NI as EZY as got the route covered and i don't think KLM will want to go head to head with EZY on the route......
We'll just have to wait and see
Just my view

Just noticed the stats for Jan 13 on the BHD website. No increase in pax numbers compared to Jan 12. I know there was a little snow in January but with EI 42 flights per week from BHD compared to last year, is this a little disappointing?
