If you're talking about the same JMC as I'm thinking about, you'd better check your sources! Tristars?

Pete,

I think you will find Caledonian had Tristars.....and five (in various states of repair) are parked in the desert at Abu Dhabi.....allegedly.

So there we go!

Pilot Pete: There only one thing worse than someone who doesn’t check their sources - and that's someone accusing someone else of not checking their sources without checking their sources!

JMC’s four TriStars are G-BBAE, G-BBAF, G-BBAH and G-BBAJ.

Built in 1974 and 1975 if my sources are correct.

Cool

Yeah its true. Our Tristars are parked up in the desert. Apparently (according to the accounts) the tristars have not been sold yet. So I am sure if The Guv wants them, and he has the cash......

Maybe he just wants them coz its got "Caledonian" printed on the side!! I think its the closest he will get to the name! (Sorry Guv)

Being picky here but technically they were never JMC TriStars but Cally TriStars.
Anyway, I hope they go soon as apparantly parking them up there is costing us a fortune so I heard.

Cool

Doc Cruces - last time I was at Gamco, EI-CNN was still there. Did you know that it was originally delivered to Court Line?

Good Grief!

I remember all those being delivered to BEA! They used to fill up the Bravo cul-de-sac with huge clouds of white smoke every time they did a wet start and the low-frequency vibration on ground idle used to go right through my head.

We had a CS reg L1011 in at LGW the other day, a bit 'tired' looking but it turned around OK.

Apart from that, we just don't see them around any more.

Ah yes the RAF Tristars, they sometimes pop into Linton on Ouse.
Does anyone know if G-BBAE is full scrapped yet or just derelict at Abu Dhabi.
