LANZAROTE

The Mytravellite website is advertising new routes to Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, but they aren't on the timetable. Does anyone have any more info (start dates, frequencies?).

I believe it's capacity on MyTravel Charter flights. Both starting when the winter timetable kicks in.

MYT513 Birmingham 1310 -> Las Palmas 1730 (Saturdays)
MYT514 Las Palmas 1830 -> Birmingham 2240 (Saturdays)

MYT533 Birmingham 1255 -> Arrecife 1655 (Mondays)
MYT534 Arrecife 1755 -> Birmingham 2205 (Mondays)

Iberworld (Leeds - Lanzarote) Seasonal

Hi I am new to the forums so please don't get mad if i ask n00b related questions.

Last Year I flew Iberworld from LBA to Lanzarote. I was wondering I booked through Thomas Cook, do Thomas Cook pay Iberworld for their planes or is Iberworld a partner for them?

It's Summer Seasonal using A320's (IWD3660 - IWD3659)

If anyone knows in anyway id apprechiate it.

Kind Regards
Ben.

If TCX were 'paying' for Iberworld's planes then that would be leasing. In this case TCX are not leasing, Iberworld are simply operating the flights on Thomas Cook's behalf. The flights are operated by Iberworld owned aircract and Iberworld crew under Iberworld flight numbers. And no, Iberworld are not a partner of TCX. There are various foreign carriers which the British Charter airlines use such as Air Europa, Spanair, Eurocypria.

Hope this helps a little.

This arrangement is how all "holiday charter" flights used to operate, where a tour company (Thomas Cook) hired aircraft and all the airline-side organisation that goes with it from an airline (Iberworld). Over time, tour companies invested in various airlines, althugh it was often behind the scenes and the airline continued to operate under a different name and do work for other tour operators. Only in relatively recent years has there been a considerable consolidation of various airlines who were specialists in this area into larger units, then rebranding them under the same name as the operator.

Destination-based airlines like Iberworld, as compared to home-based ones like Thomas Cook's own airline, provide a range of positive and negative aspects. They are more difficult to arrange flights to a whole range of destination countries, and to get a solid week's flying from using them in peak season, but they can be an advantage for a small series of flights. Some destination countries, like Spain, have many such airlines, others like Greece have few.

There are many different commercial arrangements between tour operator and airline, but a common one is that Thomas Cook would charter the whole aircraft in this case for a fixed amount, and take all the commercial risk and reward. In other arrangements the airline will take some responsibility, for example passing last-minute unsold seats to a consolidator. There is a certain skill in organising all this profitably for all concerned, which is what commercial teams have done at both tour operator and airline for many years.

Air Europa have indeed replaced the Iberworld flights that operated last summer. They are operating at roughly the same times (13.25/12.25) on a Boeing 737-800

TCX and Thomas Cook

It's all too easy to take these 2 seperate companies as one single company.

Iberworld or Air Europa operating flight on behalf of Thomas Cook (holidays) has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Thomas Cook airlines (TCX)

Good to see Ryanair arriving (?), maybe get lower airfares.
How long will they stay with the lure of No pax tax and no landing/handling fees?
Or just leave as they did in Fuerteventura?

Paris to Lanzarote

Can anyone enlighten me on an airline, not XL france or Ryanscare that have recently announced flights from/to the above destinations?
Thanks.
