Heathrow incident just now? (14:47 Thursday)

Brother is sitting in the BA lounge and said there are lots of police vehicles on the tarmac and nothing taking off for at least 30 mins according to lounge staff, so everything backing up ....

Can't see anything in rumours and news, or usual news outlets

Slight update: only one runway in use, but at least they've not shut the place ...

Not Alistair Darling, was it?

Good to see BAA's stringent security in full effect.

Apparently, a man with a backpack scaled the perimiter fence wearing a backpack and ran into the path of an oncoming jet on runway 27r...

No matter how much you beef up security, you can't really stop things like this happening - I heard recently that Heathrow takes up 20 square miles of land, how do you watch every little bit of perimeter fence surrounding that amount of land??
