Vatican plans new charter carrier
The Vatican is to launch a low-cost charter flight service to transport pilgrims to holy sites worldwide.
The inaugural flight on 27 August will go from Rome to Lourdes in France. A small Italian airline, Mistral, will provide the planes, with the interiors decorated with sacred inscriptions such as: "I search for your face, Lord."

Is His Holiness hedging against Alitalia's problems?
I guess the Air Canada song Celine Dion warbles won't be a runner - "you and I were meant to fly" might be seen as blasphemy...

And I suppose the in-flight menu will consist of 5 loaves and 3 fishes or crackers and wine, with the on board shop selling foam rubber popes, rosary beads and genuine Turin shroud pens.
The in-flight magazine would definitely be a hoot though!

Rip off pilgrimage flights
Not a bad idea, passengers on Lourdes Charters are being ripped off by tour operators when compared to prices for Sun Charters. The flying time from the UK and Ireland to Tarbes is much the same so no excuses for the price difference. Maybe the Vatican will base a plane in Ireland and compete for the Lourdes business.
Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
Adds a new meaning to flying on a wing and a prayer.
At least they can't use the Act of God excuse, seeing as he's in the management chain......
