AA into STN

I see AA are starting JFK-STN next year. Gives STN a bit of much needed street cred.
This seems to be at the expense of LGW-RDU, though, but this could help USAir LGW-CLT
Anyone know what else AA is up to next year?

I read that the LGW-RDU is moving to LHR along with one of the LGW-DFW rotations.
The STN flight l understand is going to be a 767-300 service.

Grrr

Trying to poach Eos and MaxJet customers no doubt? Last time American tried Stansted, it failed miserably.

If it is going to be on the 757, I believe that there is now first/business cabin, just 180 coach.

CO tried the route, that failed big time.

I wouldnt say that CO failed miserably. It started in early summer 2001 and then 9/11 happened.

Had we not had that episode I believe STN would have been successful as the other CO UK regional routes.

Its a 763 with a full Business Class cabin, not a 757.

Overall AA is expanding across London at the moment, not contracting.

"
Expanding across London
" maybe, but are they spreading it thinner? As for all business class they seem to be pricing coach class.
I can't see them continuing operating out of all three BAA London airports with just one daily flight to LGW & STN

AA at STN

I dont think AA is after EOS and its guests. Yes I can see them competing with Maxjet as they offer busniess class and that will put pressure on Maxjet to get some planes that work.
I think AA will be able to stay at STN with good loads but it all depends on how AA can cope with faulty jet bridges, broken doors and other faults that you find in Sat 1 every day.
If STN wants more big airlines like AA then BAA need to spend money in Sat 1 to bring it up level that big airlines expect.

The biggest non LHR slot orientated reason for the move to STN has been pressure from the big corporate contracts (at least the ones that haven't deserted to EOS) to get out of LHR because of the hassle factor.

Also don't underestimate the freight contracts AA holds. This is one area that AA has done consistently well in for many many years...
