we're all doomed

looking at the DTV ,Leeds and Newcastle threads..it seems the N.E region as a whole is reverting back to type regarding airport expansion and new routes.

JP now having an effect on progress at Leeds and DL new to the job will probably preside over the first period of negative growth at Newcastle for many years.
DTV...no comment .... well behind and no real hope for the future.
I know its all negative...but please...someone prove me wrong???

My Dad informed me that last week in one of the local newspapers he read that the airport was in talks with Wizz over potential new routes to Krakow (Katowice then) and Gdansk. I've also heard the same from other sources.

If true, it's good that the airport is actually making an effort for once by approaching the airlines, let's just hope they can pull it off.

There should be some more available, mmeteesside usually collates it all and then puts it on here, the Wizz has been doing well and as far as I know that is still the case.

Pretty damning stats really - DTV is one of only 6 airports which are down on their rolling year passenger figures - and the only one in double figures at minus 23.8%!!!! This is worrying reading for someone who works at the airport, and I only hope that the CAA have misplaced some figures somewhere along the line as it hasn't seemed that low, especially when you consider we're on a par with Bristol on % of flight movements down on the last rolling year.

The Warsaw route carried 3,732 pax in October and 3,348 in September.

I think the figures being down throughout the summer is mostly due to the fact baby had 2 aircraft based here doing 6 sectors a day each. Globespan may have had 2 aircraft based also but they were both doing only 4 sectors a day each.

Wizz looks to be doing well, I'll try to do an analysis of the September (and October) soon.

Look forward to seeing your stats.

The Wizz figures seem to be on an upward trend.

I think we can safely say the rumour about Wizz considering moving up north was false.

One area we do seem to becoming successful in is executive movements; we handled 6 today, and there's rarely not one in these days, and rumour is Northern Aviation is getting a Citation of some kind. Hopefully we're becoming a mini-LTN.

Yup, quite a lot of private charters today which is good to see. And I believe that Northern Aviation are aquiring a Citation on a medium term lease although my facts might be slightly out there. I know the guy who owns Northern has just done his Citation type rating and is currently hours building prior to taking delivery.

Who knows, maybe a new Luton?!

The Northern Aviation pilot is building his hours with Edinburgh Air Charter on their Citationjets. It is a possibility that a local company may buy a CJ2 and Northern will operate it for them and charter it out.

Most of the private charters are pheasant shooters this time of year and later on you might get Christmas visits from company bosses.

I think there was a Learjet in related to the football tastefully registered
G-STUF or depending on how you look at it!

I have a feeling it's not scheduled to run today, but the airport have put it as cancelled instead of removing it. The timetable for the route as a whole is completely messed up at the moment, with different times and days each week.

Paphos was announced slightly prematurely by GSM hence why it has now been removed. I am not 100% sure as to why it cannot operate now, I can only guess that they thought they would get the go-ahead to operate that route and subsequently didn't.

I'd love to see more routes get added for S08, but I think we may need to brace ourselves for a one aircraft base next summer and hopefully GSM can get back on their feet as a result and then we may see further expansion after next summer (I hope so anyway!!!).

Good point airhumberside...unless GSM's bean counters didn't approve of it?
