Suvarnabhumi (nbk)

Bangok's new airport hit a few snags when it started limited operation as part of its soft opening yesterday. Failure of check-in terminals resulted in first flight being checked-in manually. Initially, some Thai domestic and Jetstar Asia flights to Singapore, Bangalore and Jakarta are operating from NBK. Full commercial services are scheduled to operate from the airport from September 28th. If flying into or out of Bangkok in next two weeks, check tickets carefully.... BKK "old" Don Muang Airport, NBK is the new Suvarnabhumi airport.

A colleague flew from the new airport yesterday on JetstarAsia. Place was obviously pretty empty given that most airlines have not switched over yet. No restauarants or other facilities open as of yesterday, so he got a quick bite in the staff canteen. Jetstar even gave him and all the other passengers a certificate commemorating the first day flights from the new facility.

The thing I would like to know is are any of the employees of the airlines and agencies being offered incentives to move near the airport or will they just have an added long bangkok style rushour drive to work now?

Reportedly, from 0300L on 28 September, the airport codes will be:
-Don Muang - DMK
-Suvarnabhumi - BKK

These will replace the current BKK/NBK codes.
