Cork needing a 5th Aer Lingus Airbus? Yes, maybe, but equally might it be now better to make sure the 4th Airbus continues to stay at Cork for next winter and into 2008? For one thing Alicante should be dropped in the winter and try Valencia instead. Far more attractive type of city destination for city and weekend breaks etc? As for Geneva, yes, my hunch is that it just might work in the winter season. Geneva seems to do okay for EZY from Belfast.

I accept the need for fleet renewal and in a perfect world we would all like to see some shiny new 787 sitting at DUB. But thats rogress and thats one thing that is not in the EI dictionary. Why does EI have to BUY? Why cant they LEASE like most other people? Dont tell me that if they search really hard that they couldnt put their hands on some A330s or even 340s for use to the LAX, SFO, etc. Yeh great, new a/c but in fairness, (and again I go back to VS) a 20 year old 742 still looks well cos they kept them updated. And before anyone says, i know they were parked after 911.

This isnt rocket science lads, find the aircraft, improve the product, reap the rewards!

Re Airbourne comments

Airbourne, I agree with what you say .But we were on the subject previously of AerLingus services at Shannon airport (or lack of ) and I had suggested Knock services would be nice.

Routes like many from Shannon and Knock are thin enough and the driver on them is low fares. Attracting passengers who wouldnt be going otherwise. So in these instances if Aer Lingus went after this type of business they would need to be operating like Ryanair on price. On a busy route wher there is an abundance of passengers flying your theory is right, many will value service and quality over a low fare. Do you agree or disagree???

You asked which am I ? Well I am conscious of price when I fly which is quite often. But I will pay extra for airlines that I prefer, and much of my travel is long haul on business so I have my favourites!!! On very short trips Ryanair is fine, but I have staff travel on easyjet and use it all the time. I find it super.

Hope you all have a great christmas..

With DUB pax down by 7000 from CWL since the withdrawal of FR, coupled with EI leaving BRS in March, could we see EI switching to CWL next year?

I think CWL could do well for EI. If the flights were timed right, like in the morning, they could market CWL to JFK/ORD/BOS/LAX and DXB via Dublin. I cant see LGW or STN happenin. They have too many flight to LHR to go and dilute their loads with a LGW route.

Exactly!!! EI seemed happy to chase RE off Cork to BHX, why not do the same on Dublin to CWL!!!!

I was chatting to a friend of mine that works on the TA routes. I didnt hear much mention of the fact that they dropped 1 cabin crew from the service. So its now 8 on a 330 instead of 9.
