last time I was at Yerevan en route to Tashkent on BMed we had two consecutive go-rounds. Mind you, it was pretty awful weather - blizzards and very strong wind.

Airport is not good - typical ex-soviet - bleak and drab. Watch out for drunks outside the exit. Taxis very difficult to find during the night.

You should have a great time there - once outside the airport!! Armenia is a wonderfully interesting country.

Marriott Hotel

There is a fantastic new Marriott hotel in the town centre.

The local area is great Mount Arafat very close.

Airport is quite acceptable, and as to go arounds in winter very possible.

In summer not so often.

I will try to dig out a picture I took on apron, showing Arafat.

Found Pic, but not able to download....trust ne its big and close....(edit July 2006)

Don't arrive at night, if you can help it. Mind you, what you don't see, you won,t be scared of. Terrain I mean.
