BSL not accepting non-Swiss incoming pax

A friend is trying desperately to 'rescue' her uni-age son from the UK and has hit an important snag which may be of interest to others.

A flight ticket was bought for the afternoon EZY's LGW-BSL service but neither her son nor any non-Swiss nationals were permitted to board as Switzerland was no longer allowing this (shared) airport as a gateway into France, even though immigration/customs segregation is possible airside. Apparently the Swiss Government have claimed EAP as Swiss territory, and thus non-Swiss passport holders are being denied entry ... and thus refused boarding at their point of departure.

It has a gated access road from Switzerland. The airport is built in the form of a Y so that a symmetrical line can be placed down the middle for 'Switzerland' (left side) and France (right side). As there are very few flights that are purely 'French domestic', the far end of the right hand side of the Y has become a 'non-Schengen' area ... and sometimes for Schengen flights.
HOWEVER ... Easyjet (whether they are DS or EZY) are 'billeted' on the Swiss side ... check in, dedicated gates/café/duty free. So for this flight, the plane is considered arriving in BSL (look at your flight details/baggage labels) rather than MLH (Mulhouse ... guaranteed French side).

Apparently this happened to a flight from WAW the other day ....

Let's be careful out there folks ...
